I had a epiphany a few days ago, i'm just too lazy to write on here sometimes.
We all know about balthazar faction..
how about instead we do this.
Rename the balthazar faction to just faction (or battle faction or w/e). And each of the 5 gods have their own faction. (like the luxon/kurz).
you take your faction and donate a set amount each time to the god of your choice by going to their altar and kneeling, and give it to their avatar.
And just like with the titles of ally to lux/kurz, there will be titles for how much you have given to your god. An example would be.
Tier 1. (donated 20,000 faction to god)
Neophyte of Dwayna
Neophyte of Lyssa
Neophyte of Grenth
Neophyte of Melandru
Neophyte of Balthazar
and eventually maybe you get to stuff like
Tier 5 (donated 1,000,000 faction)
High Priestess of Dwayna
Face of Lyssa
Chilling Hand of Grenth
Druid Lord of Melandru
Supreme Warlord of Balthazar
Obviously the names could use some work. Its just that the other gods dont get too much love besides balthazar, dwayna, and grenth. Lyssa gets worshipped in words by the people of elona and thats it, and I think melandru gets some mentions in maguuma.
Plus more titles like that would be cool, shows people your colors >.>

Btw, nowhere in the suggestion does it state that the way to get faction would require combat of any type.
On a side note, Judge of Grenth makes more sense to me than hand or w/e, as he is also the god of justice.

and you are right, i thought about that too earlier today before your reply on others ways to get faction other than just combat. So you have two choices.

So you suggest whole 5 new types of faction and not even a 1 way of gaining any of them? I think there's no need for all those.

The whole Balthazar Faction problem needs to be solved, currently it's very easy to gain full unlock and the faction gain just stops. There's no way to display your gained faction - titles would be great! And there's the whole problem of faction lock, not being able to spend and gain faction at all.

Or perhaps even use faction to get into that god's realm (though ANet would have to add in 3 more realms, then... hint hint), instead of just paying 1k gold. Yes, 1k gold isn't much, but some people are actually THAT broke (Atm I have a bit of gold in storage again, phew.)

Example for Grenth: Rank 1, you have grenth's head for 10 seconds, 2nd tier is changing into avatar of grenth for 10 seconds, 3rd is grenth (not avatar) dancing, 4th is Grenth summoning bone minions, 5th is a glorious Grenth swinging his scythe.

Good idea, but that titles must give a inherent effect to player, like all pvp titles adding +5.000 factions.

Hmm can you only get it through kneeling at certain statues? Why not make it so that every time you get a skill from a certain profession you donate to that god. Like every assassin and mesmer skill/insignia/rune goes to lyssa, all water magic skills go towards grenth. I don't know, I don't really care for the idea as it is now, although I'd like to see the other gods have a form of faction.

Love the idea, Fox. I also like The Primeval King's suggestion for emotes, maybe when you max out a title.
I think it would be easy enough to go to any god's shrine (ToA or in the wilderness) and donate faction. Only problem is for areas who don't see favor all that often, which is a reason someone probably mentioned a fixed NPC. Whether there is one big faction "pool" or you have to do specific things for specific deity faction, idk. Let ANet decide the details.

I really like the idea of God titles. But I don't like the idea of using (Balthazar) faction to attain them all.

I think Melandru, Dwayna, Lyssa and Grenth (maybe even Abaddon) should have their own different ways of attaining faction. I don't like the idea of using them all as one large melting pot for unspent pvp faction (though I sympathise with the people who have nothing to spend that faction on).

And maybe an alternative Idea:
Divine Arenas.
- random groups of 4, 5 teams fighting against each other.
- kills earn minor faction for your god.
- winning earns minor faction for your god.
- each team starts with a shrine devoted to their god. You will be rezzed here every minute. These shrines work just like AB control points.
- If you lose control of your shrine your team wipes and you lose, the shrine stops glowing.
- No death penalty
- You can only win by taking out enemy shrines.
- Multiple shrines of the same god are allowed ( 16 devotees of balthazar join, 4 of melandru will result in 4 shrines of balthazar and 1 of melandru. )
- You can only team up with devotees of the same god.
