Question about Shield mod on Magmas

I was wondering why i can't add a +30 fort mod to my gold magmas shield
stats are as follows

16arm req 10str
-2dmg while in stance

i thought id be able to add a fort mod to the shield. but it wont let me...

I believe that the shield has to be inscribable to be able to apply a suffix modifier to it.

Only shields that have dropped in Nightfall can be modded. Do you know where your magmas came from?

i just bought it today off the auction site and it appears to be from prophecies since it isn't incribable... so there is no chance of adding a fort mod to it then?

Bad deal, bro.

Really, I wish they'd just upgrade the drop system for the first two campaigns to conform to Nightfall. It's just stupid to have two different, imcompatible systems for generating items.
