Meh, it is what it is. We won't see the Tinsel in LA for another 11 months. Until then, go to the screenshot forum and enjoy some more screenies...
My Sweet Revenga
I expected it to end last night around midnight but it was still going so I went to bed heh. Killed my share of gargoyes. Unfortunately now we'll have to hear PETA whine and complain about how gargoyles have been hunted to near extinction and it has damaged the local economy and environment and ecosystem..... yadda yadda yadda.... oh look here comes Paul Mcartney condemning cruelty to gargoyles..... joy!
Dark Kal
I'm also dissapointed. Why give a time if you are completely going to ignore it? I was going for the 2nd title of gamer (started this morning) and only made it half way there (500 points) because of this sudden shortening.
eloc_jcg
Pfft. It was already extended further than it was supposed to be so stop complaining about it. I don't really see people complaining about the Lucky and Unlucky titles so why the Gamer one?
Just like the Lucky/Unlucky, it will come again which means another chance to get those titles. Besides, I was getting bored of the Wintersday festival anyways :P.

You guys had more then 2 weeks to get these points, now you are whining because the event ended a few hours earlier??
God, people will always complain, no matter what.

Ya, I know what you mean. If you don't want to be kicked out of the Snowball Fights, don't log out of your game and don't get the next build. Just wait for something like Spntanious Combustion to come around to kill you off. It will give you a while before Arena Net programs an event like that to happen.

And I've you give a date you're supposed to stick to it and not ignore it either that or just don't give the exact time the event ends.

The official Guild Wars website states, and has stated since the announcement of said extension, that it will end on Thursday January 11th @ Noon PST (20:00 GMT). So, just as mentioned by a previous poster, 23:58 GMT +1 would be 22:58 GMT, 2 hours and 58 minutes AFTER the given time of closure. The event ended late, not early.

Wintersday 2006 Festival News: Grenth Wins; Event Extended!
The winner of the annual Wintersday battle between Grenth and Dwayna has been announced: Grenth, God of Death and Ice, was declared overall victor of the nine individual face-offs that took place on Wintersday. This means that winter will linger for just a while longer in Tyria and Elona.
Through Noon PST (20:00 GMT) on Thursday, January 11, 2007, players can continue to compete in the Snowball Arena, join in the holiday quests and missions, and dodge Grentchies in Kamadan and Lion's Arch. Through participation in various activities, players will accumulate Candy Cane Shards which they may exchange for Peppermint Shields, Gingerbread Foci, and Candy Cane weapons of all kinds. And of course, players can also trade those shards with the Wintersday Gift Givers in Lion's Arch and Kamadan for valuable Wintersday Gifts that contain a variety of exciting items!
The extension of the Wintersday Festival will afford players in Taiwan the opportunity to join the event, for many of them were without Internet services during a period of time following the recent earthquake in that area of the world. Unclaimed gifts collected during the Wintersday Finales, and those donated by players, will be shared with Taiwanese players in a mini-event next week.
Enjoy the Winterday Festivities for a few days longer, and we wish you all the best in the New Year!
Have a nice day

The fact is, the event has been scheduled to end at Noon Pacific for more than a week.
Apologies again for the error.

The Wintersday event begins on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 and runs for 13 days, with the grand finale taking place on Monday, January 1, 2007. During the event, the cities of Kamadan, Lion's Arch, Droknar's Forge, and Ascalon City will shine like beacons in the winter night sky with festive, Wintersday decorations, while holiday NPCs walk the streets lending their holiday spirit to this jolly season.
You should really consider that the event was extended by 10 days before you come here pissing and moaning about how horrible Anet is for having a "FREE" event and you didn't have enough time to get a title that you decided to get at the last minute (well maybe more like 14,400 minutes late)
If you really want them to stick to what they said you should ask them to roll back everything wintersday related that you have achieved since the 1st
