Hello. I don't have a monk primary character, but have been testing and playing around with my hero monk. He seems to do ok, but still dies fairly often and runs out of enery at the last minute. I have tweaked him as much as I can, and would love some feed-back on improvements and suggestions. I use him primarily for healing to support a party of four.
Healing: 16 (12+1+3)
Divine: 12 (+1)
Inspiration: 6
Smiting: 2 (left over pts)
Orison of healing
Heal others
Woh
Dwayna's kiss (sometimes Words of comfort)
smite hex (sometimes heal party, healing touch)
Leech signet
Power drain
Resurrect
Head: Heal +3 rune, al +10 vs elements insignia
Chest: Divine +1, al +10 vs phys
Hands: Energy +2, al +10 vs phys
Legs: E+2, al+10 vs phys
Feet: HP +50, al +10 vs ele
Main hand: Dunshek's purifier (20/20), offhand (20/20)
HP=455, Energy=46
He is currently the weak link in my party of four and usually the main enemy target. I have set him to guard so he would use his mesmer abilities for energy management.
I often take just three heroes to high level areas in the game for the challenge. I can get by most areas, but often the hero monk is the deciding factor in making through and not. Any helpful suggestions is appreciated.
Please note that this pertains stricly to the hero monk build. There are skills and signets that he will not use that the human user would find very useful. Would be great if Anet fixes this. As of now, I'm having a hard time balancing him because he does not use certain skills.

Well, the healing isn't that great. Try going something like
12 + 1 + 1/2/3 Divine
9 + 1 Prot
9 + 1 Healing
Mo/E
[skill]Blessed Light[/skill][skill]Gift Of Health[/skill][skill]Reversal Of Fortune[/skill][skill]Shield Of Absorption[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Mend Condition[/skill][skill]Glyph Of Lesser Energy[/skill]*Res*
Use this on my monk heroes, works fine.

I'm hesitant to put prot spirit into my hero builds, no matter how great it is. For me at least, my heroes appear to think that its a heal. They will try to top off bars by spamming it around. It kills the energy fairly quickly. The skill also requires some minimal situational awareness, the guy tanking the elementalist boss will need Prot spirit, but the bot doesn't seem to put this together. He uses the skill very very poorly.
I am curious about Blessed Light, I have not tried this on my heroes. Do they spam it as a heal or try to remove conditions/hexes with it? There aren't that many hexes/conditions in nightfall that I've had a problem with, nobody spams blind. Even if they did, they wouldn't spam it on the right guy. I've been mainly sticking to ZB now.

I always run the two of them together, for obvious reasons. 2x aegis is more than twice as good as 1 aegis. I'm not sure how it would run in a team of 4 rather than a team of 8. A team of 8 has a lot more defense in it anyway, the earth ele might have a ward, you might have a paragon. Even a minion master helps a lot with defense, the mobs tend to hit the minions for whatever reason, and in the time it takes to kill the minions then jagged horrors you pretty much have them wiped.
If you're trying to complete a specific mission, maybe I could help a little more.

My heroes don't seem to run into super energy problems. I find that my ZB hero has less emanagement then my BL hero tbh.

I tried this BL build out earlier. To be honest, I couldn't notice any difference in performance. The NPCs don't use Blessed Light very efficiently, but it doesn't make a huge difference. The stat distribution does eat into the aegis and SoA a little though, and seems a little redundant given that there are so few hexes/conditions I care about anyway.
Neither build let me down and got me wiped, energy definately wasn't a problem also. Blessed Light works perfectly well, and is a skill that is very hard to completely fail with, you'll always get one or more of the benefits. I still found though that the NPCs were incapable of using PS correctly. It seems they don't have any code for identifying large packet damage.

Thanks for sharing your builds. The two monk builds seem to work pretty well as I'm able to survive in high level places now. I'm trying to work some interruption skills into one of the monks, need more testings but so far so good. Thanks.

I would stick [skill]Rebirth[/skill] instead of [skill]Resurrect[/skill], as, if your party wipes, the Hero Monk can res everyone to safety by bringing them away from danger.
