Vow of Silence Glitch?
Morayna
Ok, I have a particular question concerning the Dervish elite skill Vow of Silence. After doing a search on the forums, I didn't come across another thread addressing this and figured I'de start my own, if only to get some answers. (am hoping I'm in the right section for this )
I'm currently using my dervish to do Droknar forge runs. I use the D/A build with VOS as my elite. However, this skill doesn't seem to be working properly at least every other run. When VOS is completely up, I still end up getting hit by hex spells. After testing this a few times, and making sure that Vow was really up and not ending, that the mobs hadn't cast a spell before I put up Vow, and carefully watching to see if the enchant had been stripped without me realizing it the first few times, it really does appear that there's a slight glitch sometimes with this elite.
I thought hex spells were the same as regular spells, shouldn't vow stop them than? I've also run into this issue while running right outside Gates of Kryta. Occasionally a hex spell will slip past vow, and I've made absolutely sure that it was completely up before rushing the mobs to see whether it was runner error, or something in the elite... Is it just me or is anyone else having this problem?

There are enemies that do chilblains in both of those areas. Are you sure that wasn't effecting your run? Maybe you could get a guild mate to set up a bar of skills like those you'd encounter on a run, and do skirmishes to see if the bug pops up again. If not, then you know what your issues were coming from.
Morayna
Yeah, I'm sure it's not chilbains, it always strips vos. The only hexes that seem to be getting past it are slow-down/freeze ones. (I will try and get a screen shot of the hexes/enchants on me when this happens but no guarantee. I'm usually too busy trying to save myself and the run).
Just asked my guildy about this since a few of them logged online, and he says that he has the same problem sometimes. Freeze spells still hit him when vos is completely up (also a D/A running build setup).... Will try to figure out which spells are getting past by testing in a skirmish perhaps, or a mock run in the drok/kryta area.

-.-
Those are spells that have a damage and a slow down bonus on them which can bypass Vow of Silence.
Morayna
Hmmm, ok. I see which spells are which for that. So far, after talking to my guildy, the ones that seem to be a problem are Grasping Earth ( dmg/slow down bonus it seems after a test in Kryta), Deep Freeze, and Frozen Burst (and one or two more that I can't remember). The last two shouldn't get past VOS, should they?

NO spell should be able to hit you, unless they are area of effect spells that are targetted on your allies (like searing heat), taking the caster as the center of the spell (chillblains), or that deal damage via an ally of the caster. Mind freeze and deep freeze should not be able to hit you. The last 2 shouldnt hit you if you dont have allies around, grasping earth can hit u as they are NOT targetted Wrath Of Dragons
i think frozen burst has no target, so it can hit you
ayame ftw
what probaly happend was that u were running with some1 else
the other person got hit by the aoe spell. Because its aoe, u got hit to, but u were not the prime target of the spell Cebe

I have made this run solo, after altering the build a bit since it seemed a little lacking at first, a few times to see if I can manage it and I never had a problem with hexes slipping past VoS. dgb
Frozen Burst will go straight through VoS.
Coloneh
you are getting hit by frozen burst from the elementals. if you try to run the krytan beach you will also get grasping earth. also if you are dual running and someone casts an aoe hex on your partner (i.e. deep freeze) the AoE will hit you.
Morayna
Thanks all for your input and help. I think Frozen Burst is the main problem (I haven't had too many problems when dual running, mostly solo runs... More testing is in order I think). Though I can't figure out why frozen burst gets past it, except as Wrath of Dragons pointed out, it doesn't have a target, so I guess that's what bypasses VOS.

Frozen Burst does not target anyone. It just affects all those around the caster. Therefore, like other PBAoEs, they can get through "Spells cannot target you" enchantments, like Shadow Form, Obsidian Flesh, and Spellbreaker. Grasping Earth is also a PBAoE. Deep Freeze...check if anyone runs along with you.
