unique item drop rates, how does it all work?

I've been killing a certain boss over and over lately attempting to get his green item. No greens yet, but I'm still trying. I'm wanting to see if there's a better way of going about it.

If I take less henchmen/heroes with me (say 6), do I have a better chance of it dropping for me?

What is the percentage that constitues as a 'unique' drop? 5%? 2%? +/-? I can't find too much information with hard numbers. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Only the programmers know for sure what the drop percentages are, but the fewer henchies/heros you take with you, the better your odds that you will get the green drop when it happens.

Don't forget about the farming code - if you kill the same monsters over and over again in the same area, your drop percentage will decrease over time.

(oh, VERY rough estimate, but if you SOLO a boss, you should expect to see his green drop for you maybe 1 in 20 times)

solo is the way to go my freind, or use henches on all but the boss and send henches clear across the map.

the only two things you can do to sway the odds to your favor:

1. Solo the boss (either straight out or flagging your henchway out)
2. Don't trigger anti farm (you should be able to tell from what the boss drops, ie just gold and/or whites, or some other colored items)

other than that, its luck with skill speeding things up

Taking that into account, with a full party of 7 henchies, your rate drops to 1:160.

Ouch.

It also depends on the boss, I guess.
I did a couple of solo runs on Kephket in the Crystal Desert a few months ago and got the staff almost every run.
Also had two in one run once.

I don't think I'm that lucky, I guess Kephket just drops the green very frequent.

If she dropped two staves at one time, then its possible that she (or any/all bosses) can drop more than one item at a time, increasing your odds of getting a green. Its all speculation however. Heck, maybe she's just buggy. (HAHA get it? buggy?)

well Urgo drops several greens, but that's just him + kanaxai i guess.
but still i saw 2 green drops from 1 as well.

I think your estimation is quite ok, i'd say it would be slightly higher, 1 on 10 times it will drop a green. But it seems to depend on the boss, on some bosses i stil dont had a drop yet, after quite some tries. If there is such a antibotcode i try to stop that by farming different greens at one session, so i do 5-10 runs on boss x, then a couple on another, etc.
