Exploring GuildWars without the bothersome portals
Korean Xunlai Agent
Yes, why yes it can be done
All you need is 1 Necro [primary or secondary] in the group with Consume Corpse and Rebirth
And then everyone else in the group needs to be able to kill themselves somehow
[I personally like Awaken The Blood and BiP]
Anyway on a certain mission in the Ascalonian area you can kill a certain type of NPC animal that is a "ally"
After you kill that NPC 1 necro uses Consume Corpse to travel over the corpse and then the other people in the party kill themselves
You can really only go so far though after you are out of the mission area
Its pretty interesting though because you can explore the vast lands of GuildWars in Proph. without having to worry about being attacked by the various types of monsters
[Yes you can move around the land of guildwars and you dont warp anywhere as long as you dont leave the mission or dont /resign or /giveup .. I found it interesting at least .. Have fun testing it out for yourself]

Sorry to tell you this, but this is pretty widely known and topics have been posted about this...
In missions where you need to protect someone, it doesn't work. The person keeps going whether you follow or not.

Search Button is your friend. But whatever. I guess some people might gain some knowledge from this.

Interesting, tho Im not sure I understand why you would feel the need to do this, other than to see if it could be done. Am I missing something ?

If youre going for grandmaster title you can do this mission to just run your way around tyria.
Farrell-Zander
how far can you run? could you actually run down to the Southern Shiverpeaks and such?
Redfeather1975
Does that mean that the guild wars continents have the potential to be seamless? I wonder why we have to load all the areas as we explore.
Seamless worlds are a lot more immersive! Makes me wonder.

I'd like to hear more details please. Tricks to skip through area transitions has been spoken about, yes, but if you can really use this trick to run all over Ascalon/Kryta/Shiverpeaks/Etc. then thats a totally different thing... ESPECIALLY if it counts towards your GM Cartography title. :P
scrinner
What mission? And yes is it the entire continent? I know that in cantha we tried the raisu go through portal trick to get the exploration in the southern corner but the map would end and so we could not continue.

Yes, more information please.

Oh geez, okay here's how you do it.
Somehow manage to get an ally beyond the portals, whether that's by luring monsters, and aoe'ing and hoping they scatter outside the portal. might even be able to anchor some npc's out there,
whatever it is, kill whatever goes past the portal, then use your necro skills and consume to it. (aka you teleport there) get everyone else on your team to self kill, then rebirth them to the monsterless explorable.

Before henchman control and heroes you could manage to get your henchman past portals, but now they will warp back to you. That reduced a lot of the portal exploit potentials.
I would really love GW as a seamless world, but that's just a dream as it would require it to go MMO on the explorable areas.

Usually when you make it past a zone portal, you can only go a short distance before you reach the edge of the world (literally) The path ahead will be broken and you will not be able to continue. (if you were lion's arch when it was temporarily glitched into armoon oasis, then you'll know what the edge looks like)

Honestly I cant remember what exact mission it is
But its the mission in Old Ascalon in Prophescies where you have to collect the armor for the bonus
then there is a NPC bird on a cliff or whatever off to the side you kill that with a wand or spell whatever.. then you useConsume Corpse to travel to the dead animals body
I mean just play the first couple of missions you will know which animal to kill
its either mission 1 2 3 or 4
in ascalon
i mean just pick one 25% chance lol

this would only be helpful in mapping the southern shiverpeaks since the rest of the areas are ridiculously easy to map
