Reason why not to rush in a trade!!!
Juguard
ok, so I rushed, to buy a brown dye for 30g. Why? I was bored, and wanted to buy it off this guy that was advertising to sell it.
So, what did I do? Gave him 3k. Then told him to look at his log and if he would be kind enough to return it. He took his time, and I said, well, sure he doesnt want to return it. So I wanted to show him a screenshot, and then he said I'm trying to scam him with some type of virus to steal his account.

Uh...there have been many topics on people screwing up while trading due to a rush...we don't need another...
Also, I don't blame that guy. I wouldn't want some random person sending me a pic or anything...there's a chance that there is a virus or some inappropriate content in it.

I dont blame him either, I told him to enjoy that 3k, after he said he cant find the trade log, cuz it was my mistake... But telling me I'm a scammer after he stated he knows how to use the chat, and that he didnt see the trade, is not cool.
Well, crap happends :P

Meh you got it off lucky. If you were to perhaps click 100k instead of 100 gold... hmm... Well anyways, 3k isn't much and if that guy would really keep it then let him.

Ah, yet another example of the wonderful Guild Wars community. Morals? Sports(wo)manship? Doing the right thing? Bah! Those things are for losers, everyone knows that.

aww.. well luckily it was only 3k
But would YOU haven given back the money?
if so, what if it was 100k+ instead of 3?
And with all the account stealing stories going around you can't blame him for being careful.

Also... buy brown dye from trader ftw? It's like 100g.

Well, maybe its just me, but if someone tried to give me 3k for something I'm selling for 30g, I'd point out there mistake. The only scam being done in this situation is by the seller. Sure the seller wasn't trying to scam initially, but willingly took advantage of a mistake. I'd have given it back... sorry Jugs!

Very few people in general would have the integrity to point out your mistake.

Never press accept until you have done 2 things:
1 ensured that the item is actualy what was advertised.
2 ensured that the price that is beign offered is right.
Doing these 2 things would have let you catch the mistake. Unfortnatly it looks like both of you had brain farts at the same time. He truly should have been able to look at the chat logs (probably didn't know how or wasn't interested in looking). But if it was me and someone said they made a mistake I would have checked the chat logs and if they were right I would have given the gold back. Just chalk this up to a mistake made and learned from.

Doesnt this post/thread belong in the 'typical acts of stupidity' thread. I think the community would be better served if that is the OP's goal.

Actually I have done so on a couple of occasions.
I am appaled at the level of morality displayed by some members of this community.

Actually, I wouldn't have even accepted it before making sure that's what they wanted to offer.
He wouldn't have had to be careful about account stealing or bad files if he would have been honest and corrected a simple mistake.

Morals..lol
No one would complain if the cashier gave you change for a 20 instead of a 10..I know the self righteous will speak up and they they'd give it back but many of those are BS to make themselves look good.
Would I give it back? no
Would I expect someone to give it back to me? no

Happily there are some good, honest, trustworthy people out there. Alarmingly outnumbered, but they exist. In real life as well as Guild Wars.

I sold an item to someone a while back but accidentaly gave him the wrong thing. So he payed 4k for a shit sword when he wanted a bow. I noticed straight away and told him (he hadn't realised). So I told him to keep the sword and gave him the bow he originally wanted. Can I have a prize for being nice?

If I had overpaid I'd say "stuff it, my own stupid fault" and after mercilessly kicking myself for a minute would forget about it.
If someone overpaid me, I would be one of the "self righteous" and give it back. Do it in real life, do it in game

I dont mean to sound harsh, but that was pretty much your own fault and hes not under any obligation to return the gold you over paid with.
I know a decent person would, and I probably would, but you cant make him/her and they didnt do anything wrong.
He didnt commit an offense because you willingly gave him the gold.

I can't imagine what anyone could be doing that would make them rush a trade session. You wouldnt rush buying a car, or home, or homework...you can count on mistakes being made...

I too find the lack of morals and ethics evident in the game ATM lamentable.
For example, I was recently doing a mission in a PUG to help out some lower level players and, in the heat of battle, picked up what was (for me) a relatively low level purple axe that was on the ground (I did not recall whether it was assigned to me or not).
One of the other players, a lower level wammo, started to desperately and continually spam on the Team channel that someone (no name) needed to give back his weapon as it was the only one he had. Eventually looking in my inventory, I then suddenly realised that the axe I had picked up was his and I immediately traded it back to him for nothing. He profusely thanked me and said that he had mistakenly dropped his main weapon.
No problem for me to give it back and another satisfied GW member who was not in danger of being shafted by someone else (and perhaps turning off the game?).
What is wrong with looking after your fellow players and not attempting to screw everyone over every time we interact with each other?
The object of the game is not IMO "become the biggest screwer of your fellow players" (or is it, I wonder?).
