If you could write a game mod for Guild Wars (like Counterstrike for Half Life, or DoTA for Warcraft 3) what would you do?

If it were me, probably the first thing I'd do is have randomly generated dungeons that get more and more difficult the deeper you go.

Most of the areas in GW have the same difficulty throughout the area. I really miss the classic gameplay of having harder and harder monsters the deeper you explore into a dungeon

i would make it so I could once again farm Tengu outside of Riverside Province and go back to the glory days of Guild Wars!

Sounds interesting, the randomly generated dungeons. I'd also increase the party size for those dungeons.

A version of Guild Wars - pre-AoE / farming / 2006 changes. Just for the fun of playing old prophecies again.

I'd take one of the continents, reverse it and change the models and textures to be creepier and make a 'into the looking glass' world. Most of the content would be there from the game it would just be altering it to make a creepy mirror world version.
You could even enter it from a mirror in a castle and find secrets and quests througout that world based on clues you find in the original world version. All NPCs in the real world would be ghostly versions in the mirror world counterpart too.

Or maybe take the catacombs of Pre Searing and expand upon them to make an undercity world.

I'd add the ability to enter and explore all of those wonderful structures we see in the game. Imagine what you could do with the floating castle at Kessex Peak or the giant arch-castles around Lion's Arch or up the coast.

One of the biggest flaws in the GW universe, at least to me, is the inability to go into, in most cases you can't even get near, all of these places we see. It makes the world feel very much like a facade, like if you looked behind one of these places you'd see it was a painted wooden prop.

16-player teams. Harder dungeons. Thad be awsome. And the entering buildings thing like Myria suggested. The only part of WoW i liked was hanging out in a bar, and SWIMMING!

I'd probably implement Pvp-types like in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. You're basically trying to complete a certain goal with 1 group on offense and one group on defense with an ever-changing map. Sounds a bit like aspenwood/JQ, but now with party-forming and better mechanisms.

Aesthetics? Floating islands, airships, flying fish.

Mechanics?
- A "key ring"--a shared stack of all keys up to 250.
- Quest Log shows completed quests.
- Wand projectiles move slower.
- Change nature rituals to "spells".
- Change binding rituals to "spells".
- Give all classes a "resurrect" skill.
- Give all classes healing signet, unlinked, flat 120 hp gain.

random generated dungeon is only possible on local machines, because the content and layout of a map has to be transfered to your running instance, a fresh download for each time you want to play an instance is a hassle, not to mention the load it put on the bandwidth.

And if you do put the map generation codes on local machine which is the user side, you will find map hacks and fly patches all over the place.

in other words, randomly generated map is practically close to unimplementable if not impossible in a MMO game.

I would make a Legends of Might and Magic style mod where you can aim manually, (possibly) dodge EVERYTHING that comes at you if you are good enough, and has no level cap. You could solo or own as a team. There would be 12 skill slots(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,-,=) and a lot more skills to use. There would be randomly generated dungeons with various rewards for each one and even some elite missions(solo-able) with great rewards. Monsters would be farmable, there would be no anti farming measures, and you could get some great stuff off monsters. There would be no damage cap on weapons(no more 15-22 sword, 6-28 axe, 19-35 hammer.....etc). Furthermore you could win via superior level or superior aiming/dodging/ducking stuff aimed at you/sneakiness/overall superior skill.
Rank elitists in HA would all be banned and their guilds disbanded and the rock paper scissors system for pvp would be gone for good.

Sounds like a game I would really like

So you would make a mod that is literally the exact opposite of what GW is now?

This is pretty much the dumbest thing I have ever read, and I've been on this forum for a year and a half, so I've read a lot.

remove all "monster-only" skills and apply all "environmental effects" to all characters, PC and NPC. Cap all levels to 20 for humans, 24 for monsters.

make crystallines weps and tormented items droppable by monsters, also increase the drop rate of ecto/shards and colossal schimitars. Then make it so u could choose what u are dyeing instead of just hilts or emblems on your weps/armor

Make a character with any face/body from any profession or campaign. So I could have a mesmer that looked like a warrior with a canthan hair cut and an elonian face.
