Victory through skill, not in numbers.
Definite Integral
I was playing Alliance Battles and was thouroughly disgusted by how you always die if you even go near the "luxon zerg" or "kurzick zerg". How fair is it that you should lose a fight simply because your team wasnt backing you? Guild wars is supposed to be about skill, not about how badly you can mob up. Here is my suggestion.
Everything must be dodgeable, and character's movement should be doubled. Hexes and spells should move as "bolts" that can be dodged. This adds an element of skill. Furthermore you should be able to aim for yourself, not have a computer aim for you. Using this system an experienced player can win vs 6 or 7 noobs singlehandedly. I believe giving the victory to superior skill is the solution.
Down with zerging. Down with always giving the victory to superior numbers/teamwork. I bought Guild Wars so I could have a SKILL game, not a luck game.
Mods, if this in the wrong section, feel free to move this thread. I will neither flame nor blame you for it

Maybe this is the wrong game for you?

It's Alliance Battles... don't do them if you want 'high-end' PvP... this is GUILD Wars. Guild Battles have always been the highest level of competitive play, and Alliance Battles have never really been respected by higher ranked guilds, simply because it's indeed the zerg that tends to win. (or the smart people who just run around and cap everything they can, using guerilla tactics... but smart people in ab's? lawl.)
VacantStare
This is Guild Wars not CounterStrike. =\
dargon
nobody forced you to confront the zerg mob solo, you could have run away and capped a different shrine. 12 people all capping different shrines beats 1 large group capping a single shrine every day of the week.
dameros
First of all, this should be in Sardelac.
Ok, you've got me really confused, you don't want ABs to be decided by superior teamwork but by individual skill?? The whole point of ABs is teamwork! That's why it's called an "Alliance" Battle. An alliance is a group of people working TOGETHER.
Alliance Battles involve a lot of skill, teamwork is a very important skill.
OFCOURSE you're gonna die if you try to run past a 10 player mob by yourself. In RL if you try to do that and the mob has guns and you have one gun, your gonna get owned.
Try running around mobs and capping bases, after all that's how you win the battle. Stick with your team and cap undefened bases and you'll find yourself winning much more.

Try different forms of pvp before throwing everything under one blanket.

This happens in RA and TA as well. Everyone on the other team except the monk decides to attack you and youre cooked.

Perhaps you get owned because all 12 of the other team have more skill than you? Just a thought...lol

I have made over 30 great builds that have been proven to work, all with self healing. I have over 300k balth faction and 5 gladiator points.
Still going to diss me?
Sekkira
Yes it is a game of skill, running into 12 people alone clearly shows your lack of it.
I have put 7 characters through chapter one and two. I have rank 5 on the account. UAX on Prophecies and Factions and 3 Gladiator points. All my characters are completely decked out, ready for high level pvp play.
What does this say about my skill? Absolutely nothing. And neither does your listed accomplishments.

So why are you facing the mob head on when you could be elsewhere capping shrines?
I swear it's like wammo mentality. "See red dot, move to red dot"

Try playing in ta with 2 groups decently skilled and I guarantee you it'll be much more fun.

the game you're discribing is simply not Guild Wars, and neither should a low level pvp arena like AB ever be a reason to completely overthrow game mechanics.
finally, check out www.spellborn.com, you'll find it quite interesting, i'm in the closed beta (though i lack time now to properly test stuff). It's a pvp orientated RPG with, for example, the cool feature that you actually have to aim your attacks with a crosshair.

sounds like the op here wants a perma snowballfest mode. I'm down.

AB is not so much about PvP unless u have capped most of the shrines, or u play a solo "annoyance" that knows when to irritate, but also when to stop doing that. This combines well around characters that can solo shrines. Skill is hidden in tactics, not only in jamming buttons and organizing a skillbar.

Dude, if there wasn't a faction cap I'd have over 2 million easy. As it stands I'm at about 1.3mil with some stuff to unlock yet before I cap out again with nothing to do till ch 4.
Anyway, what other people have been saying is right, titles don't really mean much. Show me a respectable guild tag.

Oh shit? Over a year and a whopping 300k balth faction and FIVE glad points? To put things in perspective, I've been doing this for under a year and I've accumulated over 2.3 million balth faction. Even that doesn't say shit. A level 5 gladiator title is much more impressive than 5 points. Mending wammos can get 5 points. And your ranger, necro, and ele have completed chapter 1? Holy shit. Because we all know how much pve you've done directly to correlates to how much you own in pvp. I don't think I've ever finished any of the chapters on any pve char. I just can't seem to defeat the mighty AI of Guild Wars.
Balth faction is more a measure of how much you've played, not how well. I admit you've got balls to run into a mob guns blazing, but that's like Indiana Jones vs that native. The native busts out all that kung fu, and he's obviously going to kick Jones' ass bare handed. So Jonesy pulls out a gun and shoots him in the chest. Gfg. Brains vs balls.
As people have said, the objectives of AB is to cap as many shrines as possible, not to kill all the mobs. Dodge hexes? Wtf. How about stay out of aggro bubble so you don't get hexed? Why not just let the stupid mobs cap their shrines one by one? The reason why groups in AB get slaughtered by mobs is because they're all like you and too ignorant to understand the underlying objectives of AB and learning to strategize accordingly. Learn to use your brain, or you're better off uninstalling.

Seems like one complaint after the other Some people just don't know how to play a game. No matter how much time they spend on it

AS for everyone who's flaming me:
I don't rush into the mob. I don't like having to AVOID the mob though and I believe we all should have freedom to place our characters where we please as long as its not a blocked off space or off the map.
I don't like TA or HA because of all the elitism and "you need nightfall skills to run our build".
If you want to know why I'm not capping points its because my team isnt following me and how do you expect me to solo 3 AI guards, one of them level 24?
Gizmo Loco
The skills which are meant ot be dodgeable, are. Bow attacks, spears, Lightning Orb type spells.
Also, please don't hurt me with your 300k faction 5 glad points

Rank elitists in HA would all be banned and their guilds disbanded and the rock paper scissors system for pvp would be gone for good. Sounds like a game I would really like |

I want a game where I can fight monsters solo and win but do more than pressing skill buttons. Also I want the right to not be beaten by a noob simply because he was running the "counter" to my build. Get some skill please? Actually learn how to aim with the mouse instead of saying that youre good because you can mash your 1-8 buttons and yell on Vent or TS.
