P4 3Ghz 800 FSB CPU
INTEL ORIGINAL MB PCIE 16X
200GB SATA HDD 8MB cache
1G DDR2 533Ram DUAL CHANNEL
ASUS Geforce 6600TD SLI 256MB PCIE 16X GRAPHIC CARD DVI TV-OUT
INTEL 5.1 Sound
INTEL 10/100 Lan
I've seen this advertised for $750AUD.
I'm wondering how well this will run games like Guild Wars and WoW, and what sort of frame rate I'd be expecting with Max settings.
I currently have a:
AMD 1.3ghz CPU
512 DDR400 ram
Radeon 9550 256mb AGP graphics card.
Will I see a noticable improvement?
Thanks
How well will this run Guild Wars?

It should run the game fine without problems. Not sure if you will ge the max settings out of it though might be a bit lower than max (just press Auto detect settings button). You should see a rather good performance increase with that settup.

If you can get another setup, you should. P4's are no good compared to Intel's new Core 2 Duos.

it will be an improvement but you would be wasting money on old technology.
I dont know any decent australian online stores so i priced something up on the first site i found.
Site was megapc.com.au

Total: AU $748.00
The memory options they had were pretty crappy so i just stuck a cheapish one on there but you can get cheaper memory then that.
Now what you could do is just buy the motherboard and cpu as that asrock board excepts ddr or ddr2 memory and agp or pcie graphics cards so you can use your old ram and gfx card for the time being and save some cash to buy a decent graphics card like a 7900gt and dome decent ddr2 ram.

I run a comparable system:

1024MB ram 400ddr
nVidia 6800 256 MB
Runs 1600X1200 flawlessly.

ive got a p4 3ghz with 2gigs of ram and a radeon x700 pci express or something like. runs gw fine on max settings i ussually get about 55-61 fps in explorable areas and more like 30-40 in outposts. now i just wish comcast would come to my tiny ass little town. my crapy cable company only offers 2mb cable and i only get 40-300 ping, id say about an average of between 100-200. im used to getting ping of around 20 when i play counterstrike: source on the same connection. so i wish comcast would come with their 8mb cable. =)
