A word on older technology

In several posts I have seen players degrade older technology. Due to Intel and AMD bringing out new stuff now is the perfect time to get a great computer made with "Older" components, and still have money left over for other things. Not all players have an unlimited budget, so they have to shop around and get what they can afford. If buying a computer with a pentium 4 inside is what they can afford, then I say go for it. Save a bit of money and get something that will run the current crop of games and upgrade when Money and games dictate. Yes the newer cpu's and video cards run the games at super settings, but life isn't about how well your computer can run the latest game. Some of us have to pay bills and support a family.
My point is if someone asks whether a game can be run on a particlar computer tell them honestly yes or no. Don't berate their choice just because you think it is crap, maybe they cannot afford better.

On your comment yes credit can get you almost anything. But not everyone has credit cards and have to pay with good old cash. Good point though.

Eh, there's nothing wrong with buying older stuff so long as it will still be supported for future expansion.

For instance, you wouldn't suggest to anyone that they run out and buy a socket 939 motherboard right?

You are right easyg, I am not suggesting that anyone go out and buy the "dead" technology, everyone should make sure that what they bu can be upgraded for possibly the next 2 or so years. There is nothing wrong with getting a computer without a dual core cpu as long as the motherboard can be upgraded with one when you have the cash, also video cards are another thing that can become old real quick, so buying one that is concidered low end now but plays the games that you want can save you big in the long run because the hig end ones will be the new low end ones when something comes out to replace it. Just do a little research on upgradeability and expansion on any computer that you buy and you should be fine.
