Attributes
Beast Mastery - 11 (9+1+1)
Expertise - 10 (9+1)
Dagger Mastery - 12
Deadly Arts - leftovers
Skills
Jagged Strike (bleeding and quick recharge)
Iron Palm (knockdown vs hexed or condition)
Wild Strike (end stance and quick recharge)
Horns of the Ox (Or use Repeating Strike as a constant damage alternative)
Rampage as One
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal
Rez Sig
Weapon
Zealous dagger of Fortitude is highly recommended. You'll be attacking so fast that energy will not be a problem.
Usage
Use it as you would a Thumper. Run in and make the target bleed, then use Iron Palm to knockdown/interrupt, followed by Wild Strike and Horns of the Ox for another knockdown on a lonely target. Rinse and repeat, using Jagged, Wild, and Horns (or Repeating Strike) while you wait for Iron Palm to recharge.
The build works great. I've tested it extensively in Random Arena, and in 1v1 scrimmages against a RaO Thumper.
...now for the real challenge: finding a HA group that will allow the build.
Thumper Alternative: Rampaging Stabber
Splatter Mcnasty
-.-
Sucks there isn't way to have a lasting Deep Wound apply.

I don't know about THIS build, but perhaps have 10+2+1 Expertise and 9+2 Beast Mastery so that you can have Vamp Daggers or something? And so that energy won't be so tight.
Lykan
I like your idea of finding something other than thmper for rangers but unless you can find a way to give deep wound and daze in 3 attacks it will never be more desirable than a thumper.
hammer bash> crushing> bestial mauling = beats all.
Keep trying though

Evilsod
I agree with Lykan... it's a nice alternative but no way compares to the power of the Hammer version. Hammer Bash + Crushing Blow with either Mauling or Disrupting Lunge (great fun vs spirit spammers). It does have knockdown... but its VERY easy to stop.
A scythe version is much more likely to be useful. Applying deep wound would be a problem but if you slip Harriers Grasp in there somehow and use Lyssa's Assault to keep energy up you might have a chance.

Darkpower Alchemist
If the Thumper is a two man team, then wouldn't the 2nd toon be just as able to apply the DW, while this character can be the pressure?
Just my opinion. Everybody doesn't have to have the DW ability. Just enough to make it effective.
