Prophecy CE sells for £185 on ebay!

I paid $150 USD for my Prophecies CE, and that was over a year ago! I pulled the trigger on the purchase given that the cost would only continue going higher. So far, that prediction has been accurate.

I saw this thread, went off and bought a boxed and sealed CE for ch1 for £35 inc postage.

Plenty still out there.

Seriously, if anyone knows a place that has them in stock, let me know. I'm not interested in making a profit or anything, I'd just like to complete my collection (I have Faction and Nightfall CE).

The only place that I could find online that said they had them in stock was HMV, and I have had an order open with them for two months that I never expect to be fulfilled.

There are 3 available on Amazon. Prices $379-$399. They were $299 two weeks ago.

Would still be nice to see a limited re-print run. If I had to pay that much for it, I'd rather pay Anet that kind of money.

It would alienate the folks who bought it long ago when they were told it was "exclusive" though.

Hey, they probably can, unless they've lost any of the master reproduction materials. They probably won't, unless they think the extra revenue in the short term is worth turning off folks who originally ought the CE. (Many, like me, probably bought the CE for the next two chapters and will probably continue to buy CEs.)

hence the term "limited re-print" as opposed to lengthy reprint. That said, it really wasn't "exclusive" because you could get it everywhere software was sold and there was only one CE type anyway. To be fair to both sides, the best recourse is a limited re-print. There are no cons, because that run would be limited in nature and thus would not devalue the original buyers (of whom I was one but who cannot move keys between accounts) and only pros (Anet makes extra money, people getting into Guild Wars later could get the DA - albeit in an equally limited run, people not having to pay exhorbitant prices for the CE, etc.). Thus I think periodic, yet equally limited, re-prints would be healthy for both sides. It would not overpopulate the game with people spamming the DA everywhere (not that it should be an issue over an emote, unlike the Factions CE which had a mini kunny and the Nightfall CE with the mini varesh - namely a physical item in-game) and everyone is happy.

You can pretty much buy any collector edition of a game at a wide variety of stores. The point of the "exclusive" nature of a CE (whether for Guild Wars or any other game) is that the extra content is only available with that CE.

Otherwise, many folks would never pay extra for a CE, on the thinking that they can pick up the extra content later.

Except that you can't get the Prophecies CE at any stores. Even the aforementioned HMV does not have it. They are taking orders and then simply not filling them.

The Factions CE (at least in my area, I do not know about others) and certainly the Nightfall CE can still be found at a wide variety of stores, yes, but that's not what I am wanting to purchase. I already have those. I'm after the Prophecies CE.
