This is an argument over which primary is more powerful when it comes to healing and also how big of a role misguided identies plays in pvp. I neither ran a monk or a ele for a long time, so i don't know the specifics about whether Divine Favor's extra healing is better than the huge lot of energy you get from Energy Storage.
Also I found that i won more games with and E/Mo than my Mo, just because people didn't think of me as healer (wheras when im a monk EVERYONE targets me). Of course i can add tanking moves to my monk, its still not the same as having no one really that motivated to kill you
Also, i have seen a lot of healers with weird primaries. One of which was a Me/Mo and I just can't see how a mesmer could be a healer, as almost none of the mesmer's moves heal other ppl, and fast casting primary would cause real problems in energy management for a healer...
the weirdest one i saw was the D/Mo, he said he did it because of the self regeneration (we had a 10 game winning streak w/ him b/c NO ONE attacked him)... but mysticism can't provide you enough energy to heal!? can it?
Is a E/Mo healer (and other ?/Mo healers) workable?

Secondary Monks are viable, however, in situations such as GvG, primary monks may be able to handle spike damage a lot easier compared to other secondary monks.
An N/Mo could be used as an infuser to synergize with Grenth's Balance, however, the infuser would loose 50% HP. Whereas a ZB monk can heal to 200+ without having to take the 50% HP lose. A secondary Mo can only hit ZB for 150.
The advantage of going monk primary is having access to a Monk runes.
For RA & AB purposes, most secondary monks will work... except for W/Mo's, R/Mo's, and may be A/Mo's. Though, I have encounter Warrior Healers.. they'll cast 2 heal spells and be useless after that.

Well actually E/Mo and D/Mo are very substantial healers. I'm guessing you were playing RA or TA. The true fact is that Monk primarys can ALWAYS out heal any other primary (dont bother arguing). However, with another primary such as the dervish for instance. He can not only keep himself alive but easily his party because of the dervishes powerful regen and protection enchantments (Dervish probably is the closest to being as good as the monk). E/Mo is good because of the huge energy pool you have to work with. However they have the same limits of normal monks because they cannot target themselves with the strongest healing spells (WoH, Heal Other, Seed).
Monks -> Divine Favor: Stronger heals so you dont need to use multiples (can still secondary in Me or N for energy management)
Elementalist -> Energy Storage: Spam small spells like Orison, WoH without having to worry much about energy (however once you run out.. your stuck)
Dervish -> Mysticism: Whenever an enchantment ends on you you gain energy + health. This can substantially keep this "monk" alive. Dervish only allows for a better "monk" defense.
All in all its your choice.. plus if you were playing in RA or TA, your opponents must have been morons to not see that you were healing.

Personally I prefer an experienced restoration Rit healer as a supporter for a monk. I run one all the time, what makes it so successful? Attuned Was Songkai, with around 14 in Spawning you can spam heals, including heal party.
This acts as a great support monk.

*/Mo especially El/Mo's can do quite a bit of healing over the long term. For short-term, fast healing however, mo/* is still going to be more effective due to the bonus from Divine Favor, which depending on the number of points put into the attribute, can nearly double the healing a single spell can bring. So, where an El/Mo can heal you for 50hp, a monk with the same rank in healing can heal for nearly double that at the same cost. El/Mo's will have more energy which allows them to cast more spells, but sometimes more isn't always better.

I agree that as a primary Elementalst the huge energy pool has its advantages, but there are disadvantages also. Some groups go after the Elementalist first just to cut down on the damage that they can cause rather quickly, while others go after the Monks just to eliminate the healers. With an E/Mo spammin healing skills becomes a breeze if you have a Necro assisting with energy man agement (with the huge energy pool at the E/Mo's disposal the N/? will not have much to do if that is all he/she is there for). Divine favor has it's upside in allowing you to heal for more points rather than piecemealing it. But down and dirty it realy depends upon your own preference and how you play the game
