D/Me: Fast Solo FOW Beach Farming

Hi, since a few weeks I have been busy creating a fast and reliable build to farm obsidian shards and golds in FOW at the beach. By now my build is finished and I have made over 30 succesfull runs with it doing it faster then ANY W/? build. So enough with the talking and enjoy the build!

Attribute Points:

Inspiration Magic: 5
Scythe Mastery: 12 + 3
Earth Prayers: 8
Mysticism: 9 + 1


Skills:

[skill]Avatar of Balthazar[/skill][skill]Physical Resistance[/skill][skill]Vital Boon[/skill][skill]Mystic Vigor[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill][skill]Victorious Sweep[/skill][skill]Mystic Sweep[/skill][skill]Pious Haste[/skill]*

*Pious Haste can be changed with another skill of choise, but I always bring it with me to have a back-up sprint when Avatar of Balthazar is still recharching and I need to sprint away.


Equipment:

* Armor:
Headgear with Mysticism +1.
Furthermore no specific armor is required, although I recommend you to have a max level armor with insignia and runes that boost your armor and/or energy and/or health.

* Runes/Insignia:
1 Minor Rune of Scythe Mastery.
Energy/Health/Armor boosting runes/insignia

* Weapons:
Just a random scythe would do, a suggestion is to use a zealous scythe with energy/health boost and/or armor penetration to make things easier.


Usage:

Start

*Cast Avatar of Balthazar and Vital Boon when you spawn in the FOW. Then you run through the mobs and circle around the rock where you eventually stop to let the patrols pass you. (You can use Mystic Regeneration to heal yourself when neccesary). Then when you meet the Snarling Driftwood, you must take them down quickly followed by the Doubter's Dryder that stands behind them because of the two shadow patrols that come by.

Killing

Important: Always keep away from the Ancient Skale!

*While fighting the Snarling Driftwood, keep up Physical Resistance, Vital Boon, Mystic Vigor and Avatar of Balthazar when possible. Then when health goes down, cast Mystic Regeneration to get/keep your health up. Because of the three enchantments on you, your health stays high. And even when your health drops (which it shouldn't anyway). The enchantments on you provide enough healing power to stay alive. Keep on spamming the attack skills and when their health is at 1/3 you will also gain health from Victorious Sweep. The mobs should die quickly and easily.

*The Doubter's Dryder are killed in a different way, first of all do not cast any enchantment on you because they will use Shatter Enchantment and Drain Enchantment which remove your enchantments and deal quite a lot of damage. Just lure them to a safe spot, again, away from the Ancient Skale. Just attack them with your two attack skills and they should die quickly without any problems. Use Mystic Vigor,Mystic Regeneration and/or Vital Boon when your health drops below the 250.

*The Armored Cave Spider are also very easy and fast to kill. First kill the three Doubter's Dryder that stand infront of the cave. Then make the Armored Cave Spider spawn and wait for them to spread out infront of the cave. Cast Vital Boon,Mystic Regeneration,Mystic Vigor and Physical Resistance before you proceed. Then Lure 1 of them and pull him away from all the others. Wait untill the three Armored Cave Spider are together and pull them back more. Then just keep your enchantments up and Mystic Regeneration will provide you with enough healing power to stay alive and counter the poisen. Spam your attack skills and they will die within 20-40 seconds.

looks like a real nice build =)...whether it is faster then a warrior w/me running triple chop and cyclone may be up for debate since you can group ALL the cave spiders at the entrance and do dmg to ALL of em with cyclone and triple chop. you can also group the separate spawns of six in the cave into one group also. how long does 1 full spider cave run take?

@ Pegasux: Maybe you are right, It it possible that one of the W/? builds is faster in killing the cave part. But the dervish is no matter what "fast" in doing this run. time for completing beach + cave depends on your spawn but i'd say an avarge run would take about 30-50 min depending on how well trained you are at this run. I will try and time this run and post my best time here next week.

@ Milan-V: Thanks for your reaction, i am just here to share this build with people, I put alot of time in creating this build. It works perfectly for FOW so why are you saying it is "to basic"... If it works, it works and then you dont make it more complicated just because otherwise it isn't original.

Looks like a strong build for this sorta thing. I can't see how its faster than a warrior though... Once your Avatar goes down you lose your holy damage and take twice the damage leaving you with a good 50-60seconds for it to recharge before you can get upto speed again.

Would've thought an accidental Skale agro to be alot more dangerous for a Dervish too. Rend + Massive degen...

@Evilsod: Without avatar of balthazar you can attack everything just fine at same speed, and as for the skales, just don't lure them and everything will be just fine and even when you are running through them with avatar of balthazar you wont die that quick, trust me

Holy damage does basically nothing for you here, except against the silly Protector's Strike spammers, who have never been anything but fodder. I agree that the 'half the time, half the damage' approach of Balth isnt that hot here... seems like you could take another, better elite.

How well does Mystic Sandstorm + Mirage Cloak (with maybe a preceeding whirlwind / aftershock) spike work when trying to spike down an aoe of foes? I know that the interupts and +30 elemental armor here all but prohibits this approach, but it seems like you could get a large group of foes together, maybe work them down with degen / chilling victory / whatever, then just before they scatter, BAM.

Oh, and Skales cast Rend Enchantments first. This means that if you put an enchant up, then run by a bad spawn, they will NOT open with degen (giving you a good leadway).

Since you say that Avatar of Balthazaar basically isn't needed... why not bring Avatar of Lyssa? Spiders spam called shot, have to keep Apply Poison up and use Healing Spring. +40-50 damage on every hit if you catch em like that and they'd drop alot quicker surely. I'm sure you can get to the cave without Balth for running.

Lyssa sounds good...or you could take Dwayna so you can kill the skales possibly. A heal of +35 every 2 seconds from spamming your 2 attacks will fight off the -10 degen + the hex will be constantly removed every 2 seconds.

Melandru would allow you to get rid of Mystic Regen vs spiders, and put in some other attack or heal. Apply wouldn't degen at all, so you'd be able to do it that way, plus you have +200hp, which would make Victorious Sweep trigger the +hp almost right away.

I tried it yesterday with Dwayna.. The skales use Grenth's Balance and I died..
I don't know if it's possible to heal this loss of Health but I will try with Signet of Pious Light - maybe it works

Indeed as poke pointed out the Ancient Skales use both Life Transfer and Grenth's Balance. There are a couple different monsters in the game that use more than one Elite. One of the other monsters are the Obsidian Guardians in UW, as they use Obsidian Flesh and Ward against Harm.

Congrats on the build and I will have to try it out once my Dervish has all those skills. I am just wanting to use something different from my warrior down there.

With the recent changes to Dwayna (60 health per skill used now - about 40% increase) I'd think it'd be pretty viable. I would also like to see how melandru works out and about drop rates - what do you get on average per run? Profitable? I'm new to FoW so.. ;/

PR is definitely a better skill, with +16 armor and twice the duration, I was just wondering how 'bad' it would be to the build, also considering the point that you free up for another mastery

Is Avatar of Balthazar necessary? The ~60s downtime would slow down the run alot... full windwalker's and PR for 125 armor should be enough? Spiders don't do that much damage by themselves...

Also how do you pull the Doubter's Dryders at the start of the cave? If I rush in, cave spiders start to spawn. But if I try to pull them out they just run back in when I try to get them far enough.
