Ok, this doesn't happen to me, but I know that people make this mistake, so I thought this would benefit everyone else.

Ever gone into FoW or UW with fire magic skills and had your points in Air? Ever set up as a Protector monk but had your points in Healing? It doesn't have to be this way.

My suggestion is:to place a warning message if your attribute points are misplaced.

Now you may ask, how does the program know if your attributes are incorrect?

Here's my solution.

The warning message should appear if

1)You have at least 5 points in a NON PRIMARY attribute. For example, a monk could have 9 divine favor and no divine favor skills, but that isn't misplacement.
2)You have no equipped skills for that particular non primary attribute.

Tell me what you think.

I think you should use the templates. I often have 5 points in a non-primary attribute. Is the whole team supposed to sit there while each person clicks the "I know I have Healing 8 let me in" button?

What if you have sword 16 but axe skills equipped?

The game is dumbed down too much already. You have your skills and attibutes in one window already. If that is too hard to figure out, well, it's a good thing breathing is an automatic function.

No. It is better to learn from mistakes rather than have the game do it for you. If you set the wrong attributes and people yell at you, than I'm sure you won't make the same mistake again.

If the template system still didn't exist this would be a decent idea. But with that it's pretty much impossible to screw up builds since you would have commonly used ones preset. However I do agree with Hockster; This game has already been dumbed down an awful lot.

Double-checking your skills and attributes doesn't take long. It's a good habit to have anyway, since you might have a skill or two that needs changing.
Annoying pop-up messages whenever you enter an instance because of a build you use through the entire game would really get on people's nerves and cause unnecessary complaining.

No more dumbing down please.

It's a good idea, to an extent, but the whole concept will probably just make matters worse with the issue in the end.
