I believe players who purchased Obsidian Armor prior to Nightfall should have the ability to pay a small to moderate fee to the Forgemaster to change their existing non-inscribable version into the inscribable version without any risk of losing the currently existing armor or runes applied to it. If this is not possible, at a minimum, could we get a method by which to exchange the existing armor and all runes, etc. on it for a clean inscribable piece of armor at no/minimal cost?
My opinion is that this should be available for Obsidian Armor (and not for pre-existing Tyrian/Canthan armor sets) for two reasons. First, and foremost, an inscribable version of Obsidian Armor now exists which we were not able to choose when we crafted our armor. Secondly, the cost of Obsidian Armor is so high that it is an extreme penalty to re-craft it.

I feel for you, but once you open the floodgates, there's a lot of other stuff that people will complain about.
It's my understanding that there are a lot of older versions of collectibles/stackables/whatever that don't stack with new versions. If you allow this, then those people have a reasonable complaint and it's a lot harder to ignore the people who ask for those to be fixed as well.
If you ignore them, then it's that many less people who might decide not to buy your game next time around. And we all know ANet doesn't want that.
In short: Reasonable, but won't be done. Like everything we suggest here.

I disagree.. Obsidian was a great money sink during the first 2 campaigns but no longer is it even the nicest looking armor.
Time to upgrade! The only thing that comes out of FOW now are shards and ecto, which are mainly used for trading purposes.
Even the colors and styling of obsidian armor is dull and outdated.. Why would you even want to wear it anymore?
