I am only on the noob islands, and did the snowmen quests during the event to get up to level 17. I pre-unlocked skills and so far here is my set up for being a good tank.
Mystic sweep, victorious sweep, conviction, vital boon, mystic regeneration, watchful intervention(60 second one), faithful intervention and a res.
I know I went really overboard on defense, but with my laggy computer I didn't really want to have any risk of losing it.
Is that going to be good enough to survive through the missions? I figure I can unlock olias later and make him a MM for extra tanks around. Stick to a hero group based on physical damage dealing, maybe get master of whispers for order of vampire necro or something.
Also, maybe I should switch mystic sweep later on for the one that heals if hits a foe with condition.
I got max armor from consulate docks, and have access to all 3 chapters to do quests and such. Should I maybe go try to ascend in tyria early for the 50k experience bonus for beating doppleganger? I already got the first 15 attributes from gaining the 2nd level of sunspear I think. I don't know if I am eligible for the bonus for doppleganger but I guess it couldn't hurt.
I am open to all and any tips. Also, I don't know what secondary to get. I am guessing I should go monk or warrior. I know warrior is usually only used for wild blow so maybe I should stick with monk then just switch to warrior when I want to for the wild blow?
Survivor title dervish build for general pve.

Definately a tanking build. At first I wanted to get Survivor for my Dervish, but I after I've achieved it, I'm now aiming for Indomitable (good luck to all aspiring for Survivors). With all defence enchantments, you should survive anything coming at ya, but you'll able to dish out spike damage too with Mystic Sweep and gain extra health with VS. Maybe later on you can remove Watchful Intervention for Avatar of Balthazar for extra armor, or Avatar of Melandru for health boost. Also be careful of enemies that strip enchantments, this can be very dangerous. I run Mystic Renewal build, but am thinking of swapping some skills for added defence.
Olias is a great add on as a MM, but a Human MM is much better as you don't have to macro so much, and for Master of Whispers, maybe a Blood Necro, or an SS.
As for secondary, maybe Monk would do good, unless your aiming for extra damage with Wild Blow. You could always chage your profession as you like.

Just wondering, has any elona born character been able to go to prophecies and do doppleganger to get the 50k experience bonus? I figured maybe you'd need to do it before you "ascend" in nightfall and I haven't done the one mission on the noob island to get my last 15 attributes so I was hoping I could maybe do that.
Can anyone tell me if they have been able to ascend their elona char in proph and get the 50-100k experience(not sure how much) from ascending through the doppleganger if you do it before the one mission in elona that "ascends" you? Also, does the dopple still make use of dervish skills? I am guessing he would be able to use any skills but was just wondering.

Honestly from my experience Ebon dust aura is the best elite you use to obtain survivor title. I also have to agree that wild blow is essential to this as well because of those damned kouman bowman, i hate them as well. But seriously , you can set up your heroes to be anti caster quite easily and you with your aoe attacks while under EDA will easily turn all melee mobs into playfull kittens, and everyone loves kittens lol. Also i seriously recommend EDA for pvp in random arenas atleast because there is a seriously rampant amount of A/W using, "that build" also they are pretty rampant in TA to my experience and its been reported to be pretty heavy in AB battles. Anyway, good luck fellow derv
