Howdy ya'll,

Would eliminating activiation times for Shadow Step skills make things too unbalanced?

I ask this because I find it annoying that I can't click on the attack skill I want to use until the shadow step has completed, otherwise I cancel out the order for the shadow step. I acknowledge I just may not be as dextrous as I'd like to be, but by the time I've shadow stepped, clicked on the attack skill and attacked them, the creature has moved to half the distance from where I was to them anyway. If there were no activation time, I could click on the attack skill as I was running up, and when I got in range, click the shadow step skill and be attacking when I got there (just like stances).

I believe the reason it cant be done is because shadow steps are spells(correct me if there is one that isnt), either enchantments or hexes. The only things in this game without a activation time are some shouts, stances and some "skills".

So the only way to remove the activation time would be to make them a stance for example, but that cant be done cause then the effect woudnt be able to be done ,a stance cant teleport you.

Which skill are you referring to ? Some of them are spells with aftercasts.

Probably Shadow Prison and the old teleport forth and back one, that is now never used

Old teleport one = AoD.

Why don't you try using the keyboard instead of clicking on skills? It helps.

Shadow Walk is a stance-shadow step. Don't think there are any others that teleport you to a foe. The small advantage is that you don't have to deal with after-cast and can start your combo a bit faster.

Most prefer the auto-snare and faster recharge of shadow prison, and feigned neutrality is all the self-defense you need, that's why you don't see this used much. But shadow walk is a decent skill with a cancel stance like dash.

Skill-clicking really ought to cue actions just like the keyboard does. This is a continual source of frustration with heroes.

Well, basically all of them that have activation times. I don't care if I'd be considered lower than an amateur for this, but at the mo I'm using Death's Charge and it's really a pain in the butt. (and I know it's my choice to use it, too!).

On the other hand, I fully understand that if these skills are going to have spell-like effects like healing, then they must be spells and must have activation and aftercast....

I guess now I can see why they've done it. I've read through each of the skills that use shadow step and can understand why they're either stances or spells and not just one or the other.

Thanks for your food for my thoughts.
