--If a designated PvE character unlocks a skill with Balthazar faction earned in PvP, they also learn that skill on that character.
Additional Comments:
--Elite skills would be unlockable for PvP characters, but the character must actually Capture them in PvE to use them for their character.
Optional Tweaks (not required together, or even at all):
--Learning skills with PvE character still must take away a Skill Point earned by levelling up in PvE play. This would prevent PvE characters from simply farming the Faction needed to learn skills, they would still have to play in PvE settings and do quests to gain experience and earn Skill Points to get the "free skills" earned in PvP.
--Unlockable skills would only be "Learnable" by the PvE character if they have travelled to the city with the appropriate skill trainer. This again would require PvE characters to actually play the PvE campaigns in order to gain access to the cities so they can learn skills.
Potential Benefits:
A way to gain "free skills" would be wonderful, in my opinion.
--It would encourage players like me to PvP. I don't PvP much currently, because it holds no real benefit to me. If I'm not getting money, I don't do much to make my own character better. So I don't. And I miss that. The desire to make "my character" the best that it can be forces me to miss out on what really makes Guild Wars the great game that is...the PvP.
--It might decrease the amount of farming done. If people don't need as much income to unlock skills, they could actually save money for neat 15k armors and such. Money would become mostly only required for nice armor, rather than the dual purpose of armor and skills as it is currently.
--It would break up the monotony of both PvE and PvP. Upon entering a city with new Skill Trainers, I would certainly go PvP for a while to unlock those skills that I could not buy when I reached the city in PvE. Similarly, PvP characters might enjoy playing more PvE missions to gain Skill Points for their "Main Character" that they've bought the nice armor for.
Why I'm writing this:
I like my character. I've worked very hard to get him to the point where he is. I've unlocked every Ritualist skill (90k right there) and many skills in my secondaries (More platinum than I want to count) so he can be totally effective. In the spirit of various other MMO games out there, this would help in creating an atmosphere where one character can indeed fill all roles and "do everything." Frankly, I only want to play my one character. I love the style of the Ritualist, the armor styles are flippin' sweet (Except for the Primeval Mummy. Why, oh why, would you make us mummies?), the dance moves are totally rockin', and I just like the playstyle and versatility. If I was only allowed one character, I would be perfectly happy with this dude.
So what's holding me back from just unlocking all the skills with my one character? Well, in a word, Platinum.
I don't have a set of 15k armor. Every penny I earn goes straight into skills, and it's really bumming me out. With over 100 skills in most professions, that translates to nearly 900k platinum that I would have to farm in order to purchase such skills for myself. Now, for most people that number is staggering; it certainly is for me. However, a week's worth of PvP would be enough to unlock many non-Elite skills, if not most. There is a big difference there. I have 49 unused skill points because I don't have the money to purchase the skills. Because I am a casual player, getting the money necessary to buy the skills would certainly take me a while. However, PvP is a MUCH faster way to unlock those skills. I just wish I could use them for PvE! People who actually enjoy the PvE aspect of Guild Wars are at a big disadvantage, because we have few ways to "farm" if we simply want to see the story and still be able to PvP competitively.
Like all good PvE roleplaying people, I tend to ramble on and on. So basically, allow us people who love our one character to achieve more! We love this game, but it's tough to enjoy it if you're strapped for cash constantly! Give us the same benefits as the PvP characters, please!
Thank you for reading. Your comments are more than welcome. If ya need a Ritualist, you know where to look (I'll be the guy farming).
