Impossible bonus in Thirsty River

I have been through the mission numerous times over the last week with my hero/hench team and have it down to a fine art. Every team is killed in under 2 minutes, but still no bonus. It seems to me that there is a bug that has crept in to this mission. It says that the king has left this world at about a minute after getting in to the 3rd arena, in fact most times he has been killed by 2 of the teams. In the past, if the king died you still got the bonus, but not anymore. Before anyone says it, no the ghostly hero is not being killed, I leave him at the gate.

I have sent a bug report in, but nothing has been done yet ( I know it takes time).

Can anyone please confirm whether this bonus is possible or not now, it would be much appreciated.

Hmmmm. I recently did the mission/bonus in a PUG + 2 hero monks and we finished mission and got bonus so I don't know if it is something weird with hench/heros vs PUG. I don't recall hearing about a bug hear before. Good luck getting it to work though.

It's very possible, you'll just have to prevent the enemies from killing the King and then hurry on and beat the enemies. They instantly rush him the second you enter the last area. Atleast it was like this a few days ago.

No problems when I did it last week with my necro and heroes/hench. :/

Thanks for the positive feedback but still can't seem to get bonus. I've tried all different tactics, have even rushed straight to the king to protect him. The bonus still fails after one minute.

Even with the method of rushing straight into the middle of them to protect the king, I still clear the whole arena in about 5 mins 30 secs. I'm getting to the stage where I would be pulling my hair out if I hadn't already shaved it off. It's getting really boring now, going through the mission so many times just to have the bonus fail.

The king's spirit leaves after a certain amount of time regardless weither he is alive or dead. And the time is very reasonable since you almost never fail this bonus. I did fail it once because we took over 10 minutes or so, to complete the last part.

^ ^ Like he says. I just went through with my survivor and didn't get the bonus because I was taking it easy, but with all my other chars I got it no problem. It's the cumulative time you need to watch - I found that as long as I was killing the last group by the time the clock is on 10 mins, you get the bonus. And there's no need to protect the king either...

Best tactics to clear this easy:

In the third part of the map (with the three bosses), go straight for the right hand side boss' priest. It's a Warrior boss afaik (could be wrong). This should give you plenty of time to rest a bit till the timer hits 1.45-1.50.
As soon as it does, go for the middle group. This is the Ranger boss. It can be a bit tricky at times cause of all the blind if you're a melee character.
Once you cleared this group up go for the last group.
The key here is to attack both the boss AND the priest at the SAME time.
Interrupts or anti-cast spells are your friend here.
Remember to ALWAYS start your attack at 10-15 secs BEFORE the 2-minute marker
So if the timer hits 4.10 DON'T attack. Rather wait till it hits 5.45-5.50

This tactic has always resulted in a Bonus achieved mission in the +100 times I've done it.

I don't doubt any of you because I have got mission and bonus on numerous occassions before. As I said before, every team is killed in under 2 minutes and the entire 3rd arena is cleared in about 5 mins 30 secs, but every time I go in there I'm told the king has left after approx. 1 minute.

I thought it might be because I was going in with an entire hero/hench team but that can't be the case, some of you have said you done it like that. I'm wondering if it is server related. I'm on english server, are you all on american?

Perhaps Anet has just got it in for me because they know I'm after protector title.

Yes, I finally got it!

The only thing I done different this time was to not leave the ghostly hero at the gate. The 3rd arena was cleared in about 5 mins 10 secs this time.
