Why does A-Nerf keep us in the dark?

"skill balance" (aka nerf) comming this weekend and I'd bet they already know what they are changing and how they are changing it, so why not post upcomming changes so we can redo our builds BEFORE we have to go test the "new" HA with our old builds that no longer work due to the nerf? I don't like any nerf myself but if they are going to roll one out It would be nice to know ahead of time so I could work on a new build (while I am at work and have nothing else to do ) Instead of having to wait until it comes then rework it when I could be playing.

thats kinda what this weekend is: a chance to test out new builds. its not a permanent change, only a temporary one. after the weekend, the skills will be reset. they are implementing this weekend to see how their balances have worked/not worked and see what else they need to touch.

sure knowing in advance might be kinda cool, but this whole event is an advance look at the balance. they could just not show us these proposed changes at all this weekend, and just debut it some time later. i for one am glad they are doing it.

so the nerfs will go away after the weekend (until they are finalized)? Guess I mis-understood that part...but if that is the case why do skills and change HA at the same time? Seems like one may have affect on the other and would then be counter productive to the test.

2 reasons

1 some overanxious people would start screaming *ANET LIED* if they had a typo in the advance notice or OMG they actually changed something by one percent at the last moment.

2 this is a TEST RUN which may wind up being very different from the final balance.

sheeshhh

Stop crying, skills need a nerf, why would you want to play the same builds forever anyway.

they want to test the proposed changes to skills together with the proposed changes to HA. wouldnt make much sense to see if the skill balance works in HA, and then change the format of HA. and vice versa.

1) opinion other than yours does not = crying
2) I don't play the same builds I have 4 main professions that I use and each has at least 2 builds that I use, most 3 or 4
3) this doesn't answer my question..if testing to see what works best you should keep everything the same and change only the thing you want to test, changing 2 variables = false results

well, if they leave HA alone, they will receive false results as well. example:

they change the skills. test them in current format of HA. everything seems to work fine. they implement the skills. then they change the HA format. now the skills do not function as intended before. a new skills balance is needed.

id assume that anet wishes to keep the changes and balances to a minimum, as to not draw the ire of its players. having two complete skills balance back to back would make ppl rather upset (having to alter their builds and strategies multiple time to acomplish the same goal). you dont even want the first balance, imagine how some would react to two.

Come on. Don't exaggerate. Legendary doesn't say that everyone who's opinion is different from his is "crying." Sometimes he says they're "whining."

I believe Gaile said in her chat log that the skill changes will be posted Thursday. So there will be a little notice before the weekend starts.

The use of the term "A-nerf" is so pregnant with meaning, I could almost write the biography of anyone using it.

It would not be a flattering bio.

To begin a thread with that kind of title starts it off in the basement, from which it will have to fight it's way out. The only upside is that, should it somehow manage to sink any further, it will almost certainly be locked.

Posting in a thread soon to be locked.

Nerfs are always nice they shake up the game and make people reconsider their rutted builds. Monks can do something else than healing and warriors aren't only good for damage.

There will be some buffs aswell, remember the sins, they got a major buff in the last update. The skill shake up brings a fresh wind to GW, it isnt stagnant, it's ever evolving, and it's fun to work on new builds to fill spaces left by those which were nerfed, look what happend with the SS AoE, now 105hp SSers make it faster to clear UW, and it is a bit more dangerous, but more fun aswell.

Skillbalancing is much needed, I just hope they don't completely kill the skills like they often do.

Erm... considering Anet usually just nerf the shit out of everything on 1 randomly chosen day, the effects of which are usually lead to absolutely f*cking useless skills (Ether Renewal anyone?), something that they NEVER change. Has anyone used Verati's Sacrifice since they nerfed it?
I would have to say letting us 'test' the nerf before they implement it is giving us a heads up and not keeping us in the dark.

This weekend skill update hardly qualifies as "in the dark".

On the other hand, I dread the "Stealth Update"....

Don't tell him that, you never know what he might do.
