Going for an obsidian mask today =)
Was just wondering what build I should use in there?
Was thinking of maybe using a [skill]shattering assault[/skill] build for those pesky spellbreakers on the skeleton clerics, or maybe a [skill]Aura of Displacement[/skill] build.
Or should I just use the standard [skill]Assassin's Promise[/skill] build?
If you have any ideas about what good build to use please help!

My Yanssassin worked pretty nice in FoW, I should have a screen somewhere....
We did all of fow. This is just proof that AI for UW doesn't target assassins that much. Just take a powerfull attack combo. I was killing my targets faster 1on1 than the rest of my team vs a bunch.

AI definitely targetted you...unless you have an invisible warrior tank somewhere in that pic. The rit spirits kept you alive b/c nothing could hit you / do any damage. The AI targets the lowest HP targets...if you didn't get targetted without a main tank, it was b/c you're running at 500 hp and most of the casters in your group probably are running at much less.
Anyway...to the OP- I would probably go with AoD...the utility of Assassin's Promise can't be guaranteed, and I personally don't like Shattering Assault when you could just use TF and actually get more damage out of it. Personally I've tried some A/W builds with siphon, LMS, *offhand*, and TF or some random skill, and they've worked pretty well in pvp.
I haven't done much FoW or UW with my assassin though, so I can't really give you very definitive advice.

Hi, good to see that there are other Assassins that are taking the plunge into FoW for that sweet sweet Obsidian set.
I ran with more of a utility build than a damage build , my spec basically revolved around temple strike combined with stance breakers/interrupts/blinds and exhautions. I cannot tell you the exact build I ran untill I am home from work, however it was basically designed to just shutdown an enemie, I mostly targetted the nukers/mesmers/priests/necros.
I can tell you though that there is nothing sweeter than making it to the forgemaster and crafting your FoW set. It took me about 3 months of farming I started with 5k and within 3 months of solid farming in FoW and UW I had my set fully completed.
If you ever want any tips , or if you want another experienced FoW Assassin to come with you, contact me ingame.

Goodluck Don't tell me you actually LIKE the way the assassin FoW armour looks... o_0;;
Because you know what it puts me in mind of?
THOSE things.
That is to say I would sooner wear default Shing Jea assassin gear than the FoW set... I think its that ugly.... (personally).
As for my intentions...... I'm gonna get the Vabbian. THAT is going to be a challenge. So where to start hunting for Rubies and Sapphires...

I don't support any expensive armour sets. IMO A.net should remove them and give everyone free max armour.

I do agree that the Assassin FoW set looks a little dull compared to the other more exotic looking sets, however I certainly didnt commit all my time and money for the looks.
No matter how bad it looked, for me it is all about the achievment of attaining something so expensive and time consuming. Especially for an Assassin, AKA the bane of PvE.

To put it simply without money sinks you'd get too much money in the economy. Expensive armors are one of Guild Wars biggest money sinks. If you can't be bothered to save up and buy armor that looks good then don't complain. Armors like those are for people who make an effort to get them.
@TaiClaw: I agree with you the armor isn't really all that bad. Personally the thought of having daggers made from obsidian on my armor seems pretty sweet.

Quoted exactly as Patccmoi posted it:
--------------
Golden Phoenix Strike
Death Blossom
Moebius Strike
Critical Strike / Twisting Fangs
Vital Boon
Conviction
Signet of Pious Light
Rez Sig or other utility.
14 Dagger Mastery
13 Critical Strike
8 Earth Prayers
Keep Vital Boon up, and then do GPS-DB-Moebius-CS-Moebius-DB-Moebius-DB till death.
With a +15AL while attacking or +10AL in stance armor, you have near warrior level armor and you'll be doing huge AOE damage if you can get a mob below 50%. It might actually be stronger when mobs start getting higher AL since you can do Moebius-DB-Moebius-DB longer on a mob before he dies, doing 86 armor ignoring AOE every time.
I think overall you shouldn't have much trouble keeping the killing rate steady while staying alive decently.
-------------
And my own notes about the mitigation aspect of this build:
You want to keep Conviction on full time and also Vital Boon up full time to provide you with +24 AL and a +80 HP boost that moves you very low on the AI priority table. When you need healing, make sure Vital Boon is in effect and pop off Signet of Pious Light to give you a massive 225-point heal, then reapply Vital Boon as soon as it refreshes. You can pull off this huge heal every 8 seconds as Vital Boon recharges, so it's best if you can time the heal combo to go off just before Vital Boon would drop anyway.
Unlike the build featuring Protective Spirit, you are vulnerable to massive alpha strike damage in new encounters, so might still find yourself squishy to a reasonable degree, but if you manage your Vital Boon to keep your +24 AL bonus most of the time, the additional armor coupled with the fairly large heal should help you weather most such alpha strikes.
The main advantage of this build over the AP-Prot build, IMO, is the much larger spike you can pull off, which is especially useful versus bosses and level 28 healers or tanks with backline healers that haven't been taken out first. I used this build which I read about on gwonline.
Worked very well in fissure of woe. Not designed to tank but I did ALOT of damage in there without dying a single time and here's me with my shexy new mask..
