Axe vs. Sword for solo farming?

I was browsing through the solo farming builds for warriors, and most of the ones I viewed are with swords. Is it better to farm with a sword/sword skills?

Just asking because I have an axe warrior but can switch to a sword if it's better for farming purposes.

Thanks!

For the most part, they're interchangeable. It's not like you can't get the same mods for either weapon.

I think the biggest advantage the axe has is that you can inflict a deep wound easily. With a sword, you have to bleed your target first, and not all mobs (especially in UW) are susceptible to bleeding.

Basically, it's up to preference, you can easily adapt most builds to either sword or axe.

If you plan on doing only damage with slashing both are fine. If you're gonna fight melee only monsters, sword is very good because you can use deadly riposte and riposte to do massive damage. (Do not use that in UW though) Warrior Beach solo works fine with sword or axe. It's all about what specific thing you want.

IMO...

Kill quicker = Axe.
Ensure you won't die = Sword.

Vexed, Teejay and Jetdoc, thanks so much for your replies. This is very helpful...and I think I'll be getting a sword so I'll have more options with farming.

For UW smites I use sword (melee chars that scatter on tryple/cyclone).
For FoW spiders I use axe (ranged chars that dont scatter on triple/cyclone).

I use my Totem Axe religiously. My very first Green drop, and it does plenty of damage, and it has skills that can strike multiple foes, while a sword only has Hundred Blades, which isnt a great use of an elite slot imo...

It really is specific to which area/target you are farming/fighting.
I started out as an Axe weilder, but now am Sword, but can alternate betweeen the 2 with a few diff armour /runes set up.
If i had to settle on one, it would clearly be the sword, and Riposte and deadly Riposte are great against melee.

Set up for both and you will be laughing

Same...I'll alternate between Axe and Sword depending on what I'm farming. Sword is usually slower but a little bit safer, with Axe being slightly more risky but a lot faster (unless you're using it to charge defensive skills...in which case it's both safer and faster).

I love my Totem axe as well. It's not my warrior's main weapon, but for running purposes it's my fave.

Oh and for farming monk bosses use hammer. Trust me

How exactly are swords "safer" than axes? The only defense enhancing skills that swords have are the rips.
