Luxon/Kurzick Faction

OK, first off i would like to say this has nothing to do with controloing towns or anything like that it is just about the way you can/suppose to obtain faction. When factions first came out there was a quest that you could repeatable run sumwhere in the jade sea, but anet nerfed that run to discourage people from "farming" faction. I am completely for this and i think the only way to get faction should be missions..if u get any, ONE TIME quests and allaince battles. I want to point out another way of getting it, a quest that i personally believe should be nerfed if not taken away, it is in Maishang Hills, right outside Bai paasu reach. There is a recruiter right outside, that allows u to run around and talk to 4 different people and bring them back. The run involves no aggroing and can be done in 2-3 minutes with any char. I dont really understand how this can be a repeatable quest, and you get luxon faction from it w/o ever setting foot in the AB arena, the place faction should be earned.
Having a run like this still in existance is almost like inventing a quest giver that allows you to get balth faction, i mean why not.
To prove a point....wheres the fame quest i mean why shouldnt pve people be able to get a pvp title if pve people can get faction w/o doing any pvp in order to get it.
its rediculous
I quote the box "Redraw the map in alliance battles: Large-scale strategic PvP battles pit alliances against one another in a bid to couquer new territory for their faction."
hmmm...i dont see the repeatable run on there that drops faction in my lap..cmon now nerf this run it has no place in the game as a means of gaining faction.

Lurk moar.
Faction Farming's been around since the game started and still exists. Despite existing, the faction is nowhere near what you can get in 10 minutes of AB. Your whole point is moot.

eh you dont know the ppl i know and they get entire guilds doing this farming crap...i just dont understand why it is allowed.

Let's take a look at the statictics:
FFF: 5 minutes of your life, 400 faction upon completion.
Fort Aspenwood: 15~20 minutes of your life, 100-200 for losing, 600 for winning
Jade Quarry: f***ing lol.
Alliance Battle: 10-15 minutes of your life, 200-800 faction for losing, 1250 for winning.

I would say it would be because PvE guilds that are allied need an easy way to gain faction to keep their alliances together (though they have no intention of ever trying to hold a town). There are many players that never do AB or such, only quests, and we need a way to get the stupid points. Its nothing like Balthazar faction, that isnt needed to have Allied chat.

Edited original statistic due to a misread of info from the wiki.

ArenaNet abandoned Factions, for all intents and purposes. They never made alternate access for Elite Missions, and Gaile said that they may not do the Dragon Festival again.

Hahaha, Factions = pwnt by it's creator.

Of course, you could greatly up your win ratio with an organized 4-man team. Then again, you can also pull off an FFF much faster with the same. I'd imagine FFF is slightly more efficient, but you may die of boredom in the process.

Yea I'll admit after doing the research the FFF inched out ahead in the faction accuration, but if you want to kill the same damn NPC AI over and over and over again just go back to Troll Farming.

Jeff, I respect your opinion and facts but just let me state this:
I was in an alliance going for (and now has) Cavalon. At one point, we ran the 'bus' outside Bai Pasu. You have a full team, and send one guy to get the monk (IIRC) guy and another runner gets the rest. You can time it and it's pretty fast. The thing is, everyone gets the faction, and everyone banks it for the alliance.
Pros: only 2 ppl work, faction/time is probably right around good, fast AB wins (perhaps more if you are with bad ABers), everyone gets faction, if you arent getting recruits you can chat with alliance/guildies, show off weapons and pets, it's mellow
Cons: it's pretty cheap, and while not an 'exploit', it's not really how it was meant to be completed, no Balth faction

Owning a town gets you nothing anyways, other than the discount at the merchant..Horrray..???, so let them spend time faction farming if they want. I always thought that AB was really fun to play unless you have people spamming vulgarities....<12 year old....let faction farming be like water and run right off of you.
Kais Unduli
Jeff, you didn't factor in the long wait times that occur when trying to enter an Alliance Battle. Those long waits are what turned me away from ABing when I need amber or jadeite.

This entire thread confuses me. It takes me about 20 minutes to do either of the faction quests in the Maishang Hills... and typically a reasonable amount of aggro and killing too....
But as for Alliance Battles... it takes me about the same amount of time and gets me about the same amount of faction... on average. So precisely how you get 800 for losing and over a thousand for winning I don't know. Maybe the 12 or so alliance battles I played in somehow all turned into wars of attrition... but I figured that quests in Ferndale and Maishang Hills were more worth my time (as I'd get loot as well as faction for my time, and didn't have to deal with meatbags).... and thats not counting the sitting around in the lobby for another team for alliance battle.
Is there some special trick to getting more faction from AB that I'm not aware of? It IS the only PvP that I'll bother participating in (as to the best of my knowledge its the only one that has some influence on PvE).

However many points you get in ab now you get double that much in faction and 1250 for winning..maybe you haven't played after the change?
SotiCoto
There was a change?
It must have been fairly recent since I was a bit of a late joiner to GW.... about 2/3rds of the time between the release of Factions and the release of Nightfall. The last time I bothered ABing, which was a few months ago (around about Nightfall release time) I was getting 400 per AB.
Since then I've been grinding the Maishang Hills for faction to complete the Friend of the Luxons quest.... and I admit I've become quite sick of taking those same routes over and over again.

Seriously though...
Out of the 12 matches I participated in... I was on the winning side only twice. Most of the time the whole game got dominated by overzealous minion masters... and everyone was just running around like a bunch of complete lunatics... which left me on my own trying to basically solo-spike enemy casters... and quite a few W/Mo's ... (which I did manage on occasion with gratuitous use of Empathy and Backfire, causing them to run away, causing me to Mantis => Jungle => Twisting Fangs them). But most of the time it was just me dying due to being mobbed.... mostly because hoardes of enemies (mostly undead) would come charging in to my area when nobody else was around (and they were all running about solo elsewhere).
Its a pain... basically.
Plus I never wanted to do it at the same time as the other members of the first guild I was in..... and they all preferred GvG, which I had no interest in.

I've been doing AB for 2 weeks straight trying to get my Kurzick title up and I've never had that bad a luck. Sure there's the occasional MM or Earth Tank griefer but you have to COMMUNICATE with your team in order for them not to try and solo a mob. AB is all about teamwork and speed, you need to work together fast in order to beat the opponents. Plus killing mobs never helps, they'll just send a squad of 4 to cap all the other points while the opposing forces are preoccupied with getting glory.
