Ok, I've used search function, but it seem have yielded little relevant result to what I am experiencing. So here goes:
I have one desktop, one laptop. The desktop has english windows xp installed whilst the laptop, which is purchased in mainland china, was installed chinese windows xp...
I run have GW client installed on both computers. Both worked fine until recently.
Desktop still worked fine, but the laptop loads GW like a snail on depressant. In addition, the loading screen has being changed to chinese. This lead me to think that the client recognised the language of the laptop, and has attempted to establish connection with chinese or taiwanese server. Due to the geographical location, this of course, is awfully slow...
I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to do with IP, as both my laptop and desktop share the same router, which means they'd show up an Aussie IP, which should connect me to EU server.
And hence the question in the title. Thanks for help in advance
How to manually select a region to load GW?!

Actually, China/Taiwan is closer to us that the EU (Geographically of course), so you should be getting better speeds from this, not a lower speed.
Loading may be slower on a laptop as they run on slower hard drives than normal desktop computers. If you havn't defragmented your hard drive in a while, I suggest you do and it may improve performance.

thanks for the speedy response...
the problems shouldn't lie in the fact that it's a laptop, as it ran smoothly before...
but for a matter, i know the internet i had experience with had a history of slow connection speed into asian sites...

Have you checked the laptop to see if there have been any updates to the Chinese XP? Assuming that you ran the laptop in english, an update might have reset the base language?? If so, the client may be going to a Chinese server since it contains the language files for a Chinese user.
Guessing on my part here. Good luck.

strange GW shouldnt change language just coz your Ip or because of your Windows language. GW should just stay the same language because that is what you said by options. GW doesnt change your graphic part and doesnt make that lower or higher, That just stays what it is, just because you say that by graphic options. The language shouldnt change too.
PS OMG I FORGOT SOMANY ENGLISH WORDS THAT YOU PROBALLY DONT GET THIS TEXT. Sorry, English is just not my best language :P
