Better GW longsword modeled and rendered
Citadel Runner
I have modeled and rendered the original Guild Wars longsword in a 3D modeling and rendering program called Lightwave. This slightly different version has runes, Fissure of Woe rubies, and genuine charr hide wrapped handle.
Scan down the thread to see my newest renderings of the TALL SHIELD and the WINGBLADE SWORD.
First, the screenshot
Here is the model untextured and rendered:

About the screenshot, did you take one in-game and photochop it, or did you find some way to view the models?
Bryant Again
It's shorter, which I really really like. If only Guild Wars could take this fabulous sword you have rendered...
/sigh.
But very nice work!!!

No, there is no photoshop at all here. The model is a completely new computer object built to look like the gw longsword. Notice it is much higher resolution and not exactly the same. This means I can animate it, and change it easily and quickly, now that it is made. I will animate it later and ad it to this post.
Slightly longer, and with no "bite marks". LOL. I like the bite marks!! Looks "used"
Also, I modeled a TALL SHIELD...
Working on my next project: Wingblade Sword.... coming soon

I actually like the bite marks on the shield, it looks like a pearly coat.

If everything in Guild Wars was that awsomely detailed imagine what it would say on the box for requirements
Reccomended PC Specification
1. 4GB of RAM
2. Quadra Nvidia 8600 GT PROs
3. 8.2 Ghz processor
4. A direct link to the Verizon Mainframe network to update were the players with the sword goes so the game can render what the reflections are.
Awsome job on the fancy rendering keep up the good work and mabey you could sell and pictures of peopls weapons. I personally would like to see a renders Crystalline and mabey a chaos axe and Gloom sheild or a storm bow or other stuff of that high end nature. I really dont know if that would be too comlpicated but it would be nice to give it a try i guess. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, the polygon count and details are far more than real time games could handle. Sometime in the future however........ Crystalline and Chaos are coming soon, as soon as I finish my wingblade, which is just about there..... RTSFirebat
Very nice.
However the fact the Sword is Sundering spoils it. Xen Foranus

Jesus christ that is f'ing awesome.
side-note: I've never said anything is f'ing awesome that anyone else has ever created, so you should take that as a very good compliment. Citadel Runner
Oh man, I outdid myself here. What you see below is a perfect Shocking Wingblade Sword of Enchanting. Made the way the old crafters in The Underworld intended it. The crafters are no longer there, as they have been killed by the beasts. But this sword has been carefully kept in a chest until now. Notice the glowing glob of Ectoplasm attached to the hilt, giving it enchantments that last 40% longer. Its causes 40% more damage while the wielder is above 50% health. Why are the stats so high? Because of the ecto bonded to the handle. If you notice, all the other wingblade swords have the ecto missing and some of the prongs broken. Usually because of battle, or just plain greedy salvagers. Its hard to find one of these with the ecto still attached in the game.
Also, the handle is wrapped with Bladed Aataxe belly skin, the softest hide in the world. Its difficult to get and very rare. Corinthian leather can't compare. Two other images... Image 3 Image 4 FelixCarter
Ooooo...
I like... I like A lot! You should totally do a Monk staff from the game. >.> I love what you did with the Long Sword and Wingblade! They actually looke better than Tormented Weapons now! I do not jest... daraaksii
That's a Glob of Ectoplasm on the Wingblade? Nice pictures, keep going

Omg....now that makes me want a Wingblade sword lol. Nice work, I love your behind the story on how it was made.

When I was referring to photoshop, I meant for this picture. Not your model (which is extremely impressive).

Working on my next project: Wingblade Sword.... coming soon whoa man cool renders, but i have to agree with the "others", a shiny sword is much better than a used one, having a sword that is notched and beaten is somthing you want to have after you have loped somones head off after a fight to the death. the bitten affect much more suits the shield, due to a shields construction, and i have to say i am a BIG fan of the texture on the grip, it looks positivlely grippable!. Mistical miss
Nice ones!
I have a small piece of advise on notched swords, if u notch em, make some notches really deep and less of the small ones (keep some in, but don't cover them with it) Its a bit less realistic but looks more used on tough enemies.. Btw I'm not sure about it, but thats what I think ^^ Nice work, keep it up! Priest Of Sin
wow, very nice. I'm wondering what you could do with a Spinal Staff... /drool
Jesse
awsome...simply awsome. You could make some insane amounts of money if you did stuff like this only for peoples characters. Keep up the great work
Kaida the Heartless
Fantastic Work! I'm going to have to start doing the same thing now that I am in college learning Maya. It looks like good practice.
From the untextured renders, it looks like you placed the texture into the handle itself (the wrap) where a bumpmap may work better for poly counts. Then again, these aren't "ingame" material with the current gaming and rendering technology available, so it doesn't really matter. @ Jesse: Characters are much harder and take much longer to create, simply because they are organic. This is slightly offset by the fact that they would not have to move, but it is still a time consuming and complicated process. Given the creation time, a single character would probably cost upwards of 300k! Who knows, maybe Cit is a generous person! :P Citadel Runner

Given the creation time, a single character would probably cost upwards of 300k! Maya is a similar, perhaps even better, program. The wrap on the handles of both swords is a separate object. The wrinkles in the hide and the color are textures. The runes on the Wingblade sword are bumpmapped, but on the longsword are actually modelled in. I have no concerns over polygon count on these models. Awesome video of the Wingblade Sword with electrical shocking energy (its a shocking sword, right?) coursing through it coming soon! test frame.... Ahhhh, okay. Just checkin. Everything is still a huge learning experience for me. :P
