has anyone else tried a solo paragon?

healing 9
prot 10
spear 9 + 3
command 3
motive 3
leader 8 + 3 + 1

[card]balthazar's spirit[/card][card]mending[/card][card]blazing finale[/card][card]"Go For The Eyes!"[/card][card]protective spirit[/card][card]healing breeze[/card]

I got this to work against tusk hunters, but it sure takes a long time to kill them with burning.

First, I cast balthazar's spirit and then regen, then I cast mending.
Then I cast protective spirit and healing breeze and aggro the mob. I start spearing one of the monkeys.

Then I cast blazing finale, and go for the eyes whenever it's ready. Everyone around me is constantly burning. After a long time the monkey i'm spearing drops, then I target a new monkey, and so on.

The mobs don't drop as quickly as the 55 necro, but it works.

Technically, i was a 105 paragon, but I got this to work by dying once and taking the 15% death penalty which reduced my health to 33. I also had all radiant insignias and a +10 energy protective offhand.

Any class can be a 55, but why would anyone want to make a 55 out of a Paragon? As you yourself said it takes ages.

Well, it works but it takes a long time. People that are used to the 55 ss death rates would be disappointed. If you have patience and/or all you have is a paragon, then go for it. If you want to try something novel, go for it.

I'm going to keep fooling with this and see what I can work out. A nice spear attack could help the death process a bit, but this is definitely a build where you have to focus on killing one enemy in the mob at a given time. I may just drop blazing and gfte and add spear attacks.

Using a Paragon to 55 is like cutting a piece of paper with a hold puncher. It will work, but in the end, it just makes more sense to use a pair of scissors.

LMFAO That has got to be the BEST analogy I've ever ready. Anywhere. Ever.

However aren't spears sharper than scissors? I would maybe try putting in some spear attacks just to help them along. Definately faster.

As a matter of fact I did try it with spear skills (adrenaline skills only) and the build worked much better. This build is too energy sensitive to use nrg attacks.

How was the energy maintenance. I am wondering if there is something that could be added to speed up the process. Paragons have abundant energy resources if you use more adrenal skills. Add in Envy for energy boost. Could you support Balthazar's Aura (does this still make them run?) or like holy wrath or something to add to this? does They're on Fire figure into this at all?

Honestly, the energy maintainence is delicate. First of all, we only have 2pips of regen so running balthazar's spirit and mending puts you at 0 pips. I originally tried it with essence bond as well, but the -1 degen hurt the build.

For the first scenario I tried, with blazing finale and GFTE, the extra nrg from GFTE helped quite a bit...i had no nrg problems at all. With spears it became a problem, that's why I said to use adrenaline attack spears only. With adrenaline attacks the nrg is just enough. But throw in some nrg attacks and it is just too much strain on the nrg. One time I couldn't get healing breeze off and so I died.

And then after a fight I have to dismiss mending just so my nrg will regen (very slowly) back to full.

TOF won't make any difference since the damage discount counts against damage before the protective spirit cap takes place. Plus, it's an nrg based skill so it would hurt my already fragile build. I haven't tried balthazar's aura but I can already tell you it costs too much. The other shouts/chants would help nrg and some of those effects might be helpful.

Anyone who makes a 55 Paragon and doesn't include Burning Refrain deserves to be slapped. j/k Seriously tho, it's a skill that just can't be left out.

Take Glowing Signet for e-mgmt.

Lucky for you, there are two empty skill slots in your build.

Let us know how it goes.
