From the Canthan Timeline on guildwars.com

511 CC Prince Chang Hai, a Warrior Monk, becomes first Ascendant emperor of Cantha.
They all want to be the next Ascendant emperor of Cantha.
Duh!

That isn't lore. The reason is the manual's always tell new players to try Warrior Monks. <_>
Ariena Najea

Hmm there was another reason why there are so many W/Mo. Theres a pic of it somewhere in the forums. Its a merged statue between Balthazar and Dwayna (showing Balthazar with wings). I guess they saw this as inspiration. It is also the inspiration for Mo/E to bring firestorm ftl.
Acerbus
LOL nice! I suck when it comes to warriors. =P
Dfx Gladiator
Nice find, they are smarter than we thought

Div
A true warrior never leaves home without mending, healing breeze, vigorous spirit, and healing hands/defy pain. any warrior seen without these skills should be ashamed of themselves.
Frazzy
Really? I thought it was cuz warriors are powerful and have big hammers.

Why are there so many W/Mo's?
It's elementary and no research required:
-W/Mo's play similarly to the Paladin class, a staple of other fantasy based games.
-W/Mo's is a solid profession mix for the first-time player and/or soloist, especially early on in the game. (high armor/self healing)
-Smears against W/Mo's are primarily generated by people who scoff at the unoriginality of the profession combination.
Curiously, when the masses condemn you for being unoriginal, then you can be effectively considered a "maverick".

Mending helps to cover their use of frenzy-Dolyak Sig-Heal sig (That's right, the wammos had to replace echo with a skill)

LOL, just as a note. A smiting monk could be considered a warrior monk as well.

i see alot of ppl with no life but alot of time to laugh at other for their build choice, now thats very original.

People use W/Mo because it works. It's a great starter build and also fun to use. Thats more than most of those FotM builds can say. Yea mending isn't the best skill, but it's certainly decent if you don't need the energy. People just overuse it. Also, up until paragons were introduced, W/mo was the closest thing to a paldin-type you could get. gg
trekkie dude
hey when i become emperor i shall remember you and reward you greatly

In case some of you didn't noticed, this thread is a joke.
hehehe Pretty good find by the way.
Seriously now, that at least proves they use the dual-class in the lore. I think that's the first time it is said, accept kisu's mesmer training.

I think it would be hilarious if their were an NPC loremaster that actually referred to the high numbers of wammos and used that reason for it being so. Yes, they may choose it for practical purposes, but ANet could actually use that coincidence to further the story lore and people would get a kick out of it too
