I understand that some of these things may be important to the segment of the gw population that pvps, but I wonder how many casual players see the same thing and just get ticked. Does Anet consider the effects this has on the carebear pve population or even care?

OP: Regardless of (usually hardcore) players telling you to 'quit whining' and other such novel concepts, I do know where you're coming from. It sucks to play a couple hours a week, learning the skills slowly but surely, obtaining armor and items that are the ones you want, and then logging on only to find your 15k boots that you finally decided to buy useless and the skills you knew all nerfed.
I still wear my 15k Kurzick knight boots that I bought 3 days before they changed everything around. I doubt I'll ever replace them as I spent and gave away everything I made during the Factions preview event. Sure, it sucks, but I also can't be too inclined to care. For me, what I do, and how I play this game (ie. casually), having a pair of Knights Boots doesn't really change my PvE game. I don't farm hardcore, I don't bring my PvE char into PvP to compete, and the only reason I really bought them in the first place was because they looked cool...and for all you jokers out there, they really ARE great at keeping the mud off my feet!
Now, when it comes to skills, I look at this long list of changes and am quite a bit overwhelmed. There are changes to many skills I haven't even unlocked yet! So yes, it's a little frustrating to say the least and yet, being someone who doesn't invest much in the world of Guild Wars, I also can't say I'm losing much sleep over it.
The game is just as fun as it was days before the new skill update (which I actually should be playing around with instead of posting here :P ), it will just take a little getting used to again...at which point they will probably have another twist to throw our way *chuckle*
Anyway, sorry you're miffed. Just remember that those of us who play casually do so because we have other things to do that we find more enjoyable than Guild Wars. If it's making you mad to play, take a few weeks off. By the time you come back, the skill update will be nothing but a memory
