E/Mo what atrributes do i increase??
DouglasJKB
ok so i decided to make an elementalist cause i like magic characters in MMORPGs and then when i had to decide on a secondary profession i choose my second fav class and that is the priest (or in GW the monk) so i made an E/Mo (rofl emo hahaha lol) but i have to use attribute points now im level 6 and haven't used a single one cause i dont wanna mess up with it, at first i didn't know about the second profession and usually im an air/water mage in most games but i don't really like the skills in GW for it and the fire spells seem alot more powerful and straight forward, while in the monk arsonal i like the healing spells (healing prayers) so i would like to know if all i do is increase my healing prayers and fire magic, is that smart?? i would really like help with this cause i hate making these decisions on my own when im an obvious N00b xD.

The cool thing about guildwars is you can reasign attributes as many times as you want as long as your in a town, so you can play with the combos till you find one you like.
Yanman.be
You're only level 6 so you cannot say you don't like air or water.
Also, like tarbok1 says, you cannot make mistakes by assigning attribute points. you can always gain them back.

first, choose what type of magic u would like to play with. u seem to have chosen fire magic, for AoE and extreme damage.
next, all, and i mean all, with barely any exception, all elementalists should invest in energy storage. im guessing ur coming from WoW, energy storage is like increasing ur maximum mana, so it is essential.
also, in most situations, you wont need to invest points in healing prayers unless in PvP, but youll get to that later. youll usually have a monk in ur group when exploring, and if not, bring along a monk henchmen. now it may seem that you have wasted ur secondary profession. well you havent. monks are known for having a hard rez, or an unlimited supply of resurrections of their allies. other classes do not have this option, so they use resurrection signet, which is inferior unless in PvP. monks also have condition removal, another great reason to be a monk.
tarbok1 is right, you can reassign attributes in towns and outposts only. also, there are runes you can add to your armor that help increase these attributes.
so, to begin with, raise strictly only fire magic and energy storage and bring along skills like these:
[skill]Purge Conditions[/skill]
[skill]Rebirth[/skill]
[skill]Resurrect[/skill]
[skill]Mending Touch[/skill]
some of these are from a different campaign, too.
i hope this helped, but seriously, if u have any questions at all, ill add u ingame and pm you with help. I can go through the game with you, also.
Have fun and welcome to Guild Wars.

Something you will find later in the game is that even though you have monk abilities, monks will be better at it. If you want to play a monk, I would suggest you make a monk to play for your healing fix. If you want to do some massive damage with spells, keep the ele and later you'll end up going max in one of the attributes. I play air, others play earth, fire, etc.
I tend to go 16 air, (12 air + 1 for head gear + 3 for superior rune)
13 storage (12 storage + 1 for minor rune)
and don't use the other six.
Though you can heal rather well with a massive mana pool, a monk in your group allows you to really do your thing and shine as a nuker.

With Ether Prodigy coupled with Heal Party, and given the somewhat spread out damage in PvE, Elementalists are great at "healing"; and that's also not to count utility such as Blinding Flash, Windborne Speed, Gale, and such. * Massive * damage is proven to be somewhat impossible with the Elementalist, with the exception of Searing Flames (and perhaps some isolated others), which may or may not work anymore continuously now. The typical Echo-Meteor Shower is a terrible combination, for example.
Not that you can't build an Elementalist using something like...Air for damage. It just won't be as effective as say, a Warrior, or a Searing Flames ele.

OMG so lost lol ok so i now understand the searing something is a good spell i should go find it :P, but what if i make my E/Mo just a healer would that be good for support, while i hunt go solo and then i can easily switch to a healer and go back and forth??
Yanman.be
Try whatever you want. You can always change back. Don't go to the forums to ask such questions.
Backspace496
cmon guys hes new!!! jeez!!! hey douglas, ill whisper u ingame and tell u the bascis, and by the way, the skill ur looking for is searing flames, its an elite skill, must be captured, and its in nightfall, so ur far from that lol. happy yo help
ubermancer
Yeah you can switch from E/Mo to E/whatever-you-want with ease, later. E/Assassin is particularly useful in solo hunting, at the moment. Thats why most people on the forums just list their primary class (like W/) as their characters class, you are never stuck with a secondary.
My best advice is to try stuff. Lots of stuff. Look at the skills, see which ones combine well (like Ebon Hawk + Glowstone + Stoning ; Incendiary Bonds + Fireball + Glowing Gaze). Be generally sparse with your casting until you get elite energy management (things like Ether Prodigy, Elemental Attunement, and all that).
Oh, and use Glyph of Lesser Energy. Its super useful.
In general, a good balance for a PVE ele to have is to devote each of their skill slots to a type of skill:
1) Damage
2) Damage
3) Damage
4) Utility (Stoneflesh Aura, Storm Djinn's Haste, etc)
5) Big Killer (Meteor Shower, Earthquake, etc)
6) Glyph of Lesser
7) Attunement
8) Res spell
AOE is good, but be wary of spells which deal AOE several times in a row (like Firestorm, etc). They can cause the enemies to run away more easily then their counter parts.
