Treasure Chests

Treasure Chests
This is an idea based on the introduction of the 'FREE' Treasure Chests in Nightfall that were introduced during the 2006 Wintersday Event.
How about introducing Treasure Chests into the 'other two' campaigns. These could be done at those campaign specific events, ie: Catha - Dragon Festival and Tyria - Halloween. Any further campaigns could also be included this way via their specific event.
In addition to this, they could also be reset each year at the time of each campaigns event. This would then space out the release/reset of the chests.
This would then encourage players old and new to explore 'out of the way' regions throughout the Guild Wars universe, plus the little 'boosts' in the Economy. It would help to maintain interest and exploration of the various campaigns.
Imagine having to go into 'Icedome', 'The Falls' area, one of the two redundant caves in Lorner's pass or 'Unwaking Waters' to get to the chests. Of course, not all of the chests would be in 'high level' areas, just like they are not in Nightfall.
PS: By adding these chests to the 'other areas' would help to incure some interest into those campaigns and spread some people around the various outposts. It would also help to alleviate the problem of what-to-do some evenings.

Tyria needs those more than any other continent, it got so many... useless areas, the treasures could give them a purpose.

It should encourage players to get their characters to the more difficult areas. And it should reward my 10 characters that have completed campaign 1&2.

Sounds good, then maybe more people would take assassins through PvE, and go exploring ^^ (I'm referring to the A/D shadow form runner, gotten me 100% on two continents so far)

I agree that this will boost interest to far and forgotten areas of all continents, especially to Tyria and Cantha. Chest hidden in The Falls... or Do Not Touch in far corner of Dragon's Gullet (how many of you been there? It has few beautiful wall fragments...) I can see business opportunity in chest runs there as well :-)
And boosted interest = more people play

Would love to have more sources for gold and help some of us with the Wisdom track.

you guys know that there used to be 2 chests that dropped around 4-20 items each right? It was in Dreadnaughts Drift. Also, there was one around the zone outside of THK...I agree that they need it, but how will the economy be impacted by all of this 'free' gold?

Might cause some inflation, but I'm all for it.

Thanks for the support guys.
A couple of you have said about the 'inflation'. We would only be talking about once per year, per character, per Campaign. If the said campaigns' event was spread apart from the others, ie: 3 months apart, then I believe it would not be a problem. We are not talking a massive amount of gold here (20k ish per character) and anyway it would very soon be injected back into the system I am sure.
With the advent of the Fourth Campaign looming sometime this year, it would help to keep the other campaigns alive, albight briefly. Especially so, if the areas the chests were in, were in strange but interesting places.
We have all wanted more injection of interest into the older campaigns and I believe that this would give us all that and maybe more.

I'd say give a title for finding these chests too... but maybe not.

For all the reasons stated above. This sounds like a great idea, as i sometimes get bored with Elona. I would love to have more reason to advance to 90% of Tryia explored.

Sorry it would create more probs than solve.
great from a single persons point of view, but over all bad idea. Dont believe me, its ok. ill try to explain. With the Elona chests alone on my 11 chars i pass through the chests i was at 800k in bank from them. And now they got reset im glad i have a second account to put the rest of the gold in. think of what would happen if that was availiable to all 3 campaigns.

I think the chests are a great idea, and there should be more of them per campaign than there is now in Elona. They also need to fix the normal chests in the game to make the 450gp cost worth the item. They drop way to many friggin water wands that i just salvage, or sell back for a 300% loss.

Sorry, I would like the gold and rare itesm too... but Elona is the 'Land of wealth'
Tyria has 'free skills', Cantha has 'tons of Exp', Elona has 'Tons of Gold'.
Each campaing has its own 'special thing'.

If you had 800k to begin with, then gaining 800k more is not going to make any difference in gameplay at all. If you have any more trouble holding that much gold, you are more than welcome to give me some. Sounds like you dont need it anyways...

And by the way i got 800k from the chests from those 11 chars. And im doing through the reset again. But if you are haveing that much difficulty, i'll be more than happy to give you advice but i wont spoon feed anyone.

I like the idea of getting more interest in the older areas of the game. Tyria would seem like an obvious choice for these chests as there are loads of areas with only baddies. Adding these chests would make them actually worth exploring. Well, apart from the Explorer track, I suppose.
