I’ve heard of people getting ignored because they get annoying and some other crap. Also when people want to buy a weapon and the seller says offer. Sometimes the buyer doesn’t really know that price and give it kind of low and the seller calls him a noob and ignores him. It isn’t really the buyer’s mistake.

But do you think people ignore other people because if they builds they play?

Umm...I think I need to reread this again..lol..

Ya, I think people like to irritate people on the internet just for fun, because they are weak and sorry in real life and like to show off their e-peen online. Don't pay attention to them though, its not worth your time.

I see this all the time. It is basic rudeness. Although it took me a while to figure out what you were saying, basically the sellers want you to PM your offers.

If you don't come close to the price that they expect, then they insult you. Sometimes they get too much money this way based on the same principle of people not knowing any better. If you don't know any better and you offer a low price, they insult you. They are trolling for the people who offer too much.

Frankly, I ignore any seller that won't state a price. Any discussion with them is pointless as they always insist on you making the first offer.

I ignore annoying people when I'm going to be hanging around in town. I don't make an issue of it, I just put 'em on ignore and that's it.

I never do business with people selling things who say "PM offers," "Serious offers only" or "No noob offers." As Griff Mon said, they're looking to get more than what the item is worth.

Do people ignore other people because of the build they use? It's pretty tough getting into PvE groups as a Mesmer or an Assassin. I primarily play a Mesmer and I've had some pretty tough times getting into PUGs for Missions & what-not. I prefer the silence over the stupid, insulting remarks that some people make with regards to builds/professions. Of couse, the people making them don't realize how big of a buffoon they're making themselves out to be when they spew out things like "Stupid noob! Mesmers are useless in PvE!"

The only ones I ever put on ignore are the adolescents discussing their imaginary sex lives with their friends as I am unable to smack them in the head.

@Tide to Go - I have gray hair and I answer questions all the time. I just do it through PM so there won't be any derogatory comments made to the questioner.

@Isaac - don't let rude people annoy you. That's why they do it.
If you are put on ignore for asking questions or for an unknown reason, just go on to someone else.

And the advice about sellers is good, no pro trader would do that to you. If a seller doesn't know what his item is worth, he shouldn't be trying to sell it.

My hair's too busy falling out for it to turn gray. BUT, if I know the answer to someone's question, I'll answer it. If I catch the name fast enough, I'll send a PM - the little "ping" you hear when you're PM'd helps the person catch your answer. If I don't catch the name, and the spam is going pretty good, I'll all-cap the first part of the answer to help them see it in all chat - like this:
Q: Where's storage at?
A. STORAGE is up by Vanyi, to the west.

If peopel want to act like immature children by all means let them. If they want to ignore peopel for silly reason let them. It keeps them away from the better part of the comminity this way.

For example, I was trying to sell Peppermint Candy Cane weapons in Kamadan and I got a whisper asking if they were winter green. I said no and got called a noob and insulted. Well, I was bored that day and decided to see what would happen when I threatened to report the guy. He freaked out and started apologizing and all sorts of stuff so I just ignored him. I felt it was warrented since I rarely if ever put people on my ignore or friends list.

I don't trade much, but when I encounter such aggressive behavior with no reason that contains a lo of offense, I do a screen and report. Althou I do not want to do such things (because some people abuse the system) some of the responses were a way too offensive for "Hello sir, I will pay 10k for it!". And I mean like I just didn't ress him for 10 mins and took his greens and golden items or similar abuse.

Another annyoing thing when trading is when you advertise something and you include the price in the ad. then someone ask you for stats details wepaon etc, then they ask for the price and decide not to answer anymore. Thereby wasting 5minutes of your time when you could of been talking to actual buyers

Do what I do:

1. Drink while you wait... what else you got to do in the meantime? :P

2. Ask them if they are in fact interested or just Window shopping. Saves time.

I will usually answer any questions people post about the game, in pm and/or chat. However, I hesitate when they spam the question 3+ times in a second as it just gets annoying. I prefer to pm them the answer as if i put it in chat and they're still spamming their question the answer will probably be ignored and they will continue spamming.

I'm starting to think that maybe those who are lfg should use the trade window to look for their teams and pugs since the local chat is used more. Then when the spammers catch on, they will start using the trade window more often and then we can switch back to local chat.

As long as people are civil and have some clarity in their communication, I won't ignore them (unless I'm simply too busy to type, 8v8 etc). I might not like their build choice, and if they're stubborn about it's effectiveness to the point of denial it irks me, but that's no cause for ignoring them.

Most of the posters here are right on. And I can agree wth them on a lot of things. Someone who doesn't put an asking price I don't even bother with because they have not taken the time to do a little research on how to properly price what they are trying to sell. Whenever I sell something I always find out what it is currently going for then try to get that. I do not have a lot of time to b online spamming WTS, so I will take a lower price if it seems reasonable. For those who will put you on ignore, they are not worth the time it takes me to wipe my butt.
The players on my ignore ist are there for a reason, they were rude or just beign nasty towards others, and that is not cool. Yes my hair is grey but I play Guild Wars to get away from the BS of the real world, not to get ino it with someone who has a "you don't know me so I am going to be a jerk" complex.

This is pretty much my philosophy as well. I don't have many folks on my ignore list. The ones on the list are there because they act like whiny oversexed kids in town. I really don't wanna hear how you "did everyone's mother" last night.

I don't have kids myself, but if I did I probably would not allow them to play GW. There is just too much chat in town that I don't want a young child to see. (And yes, I realize that most of the garbage is coming from young children.)

If you catch someone trolling for a sucker call them on the price in public chat. That's what I always do. If I see some joker talking about WTS X item PM with Price, and I know what that item is worth I'll offer it if I have it. If they start Caps locking me for it then I call em on it. " What do you mean 100K+3ecto that item is only worth 40K" That generally shuts them up. There is a lot of build discrimination. Don't sweat that though. If you look hard enough you'll find teams that will take pretty much anything and surprisingly enough they still make it through.

There is an inordinate amount of rudeness in the game though, but mostly from ignorant people. I know there was this one guy in Madness a couple of days ago just being racist and rude to anyone with an Arabic character name, like mine. It was me and a couple of other players in there with Arabic style names and he was going on and on about raghead this, towelhead that, taliban something else and then to make maters worse had the gall to hide behind 9/11 to support his racism. Needless to say he went on the ignore list along with all the ignorant rednecks that supported him.

Pff I rarely see crap like that, only sex jokes that don't bother me because they're not funny enough. The only thing that bothers me sometimes is that people take me too seriously, I've been called a nazi several time because I cracked some joke about 'SS-necros'. Probably just a couple of kids that just learned in school that fascism is bad, I read enough about the holocaust to know that as well, but sometimes people have differences about whats funny and what tasteless.

I normally ignore people with poor grammar, but i'll cut you some slack for now.

Yes, some people will laugh and ignore players with ghastly bars.

IE. Wa/mo with power attack, mending, or vig spirit. Monks with healing breeze. Anyone besides an MM with heal area.

if you are going to bring Mending, at least bring Echo too.

I am one of those that on occasion sells with make offer. I don't do it to gouge anyone. Sometimes I just want to get rid of the item, and I do make outlandishly low sales because I want to play and not research prices. If I have a good Gold item, I don't want to spend hours trying to sell it. Sometimes a level 8 or less with no guild tags will offer 100g for something a merchant will give 400+ for, I take their money. Why? Because someone is getting good use out of it, and it isn't the merchant. I am not 'rich'. I maintain around 200k in storage and 10k to 20k on each character. I have what I need when I need it. Thanks A-Net for ID and salvage kits.

Sometimes the buyers think they know more than the seller. I have been called a noob for trying to sell the -50 cesta for 3k. The guy was spamming to buy 1 and I had 2. I offered it to him for 3k. He laughed and said it wasn't worth that. He PM'd me an hour or so later asking if I still had it, cause everyone else wanted 5k to 7k for it. I told him I had sold it even tho I hadn't. ( I now have 3.)

I have no one on ignore. I have been put on ignore by a runner who took my money and disappeared. I put them on friends list to keep track of them and everytime I saw them on, I asked them who they were ripping off now. After a couple days of it, I got a message I was being ignored. When I see this person on, I go to where I had hired him and if he is there, I spam BEWARE of so-so.

As far as builds on teams, I don't care your build. I am just glad to get a team. I don't care if we even have a monk or not. I take care of my own healing anyway. I don't ridicule a person's build, but I may offer a suggestion.

I have always shared any knowlege I have. I answer questions that I know the answer to. I PM it to them unless the are "offline", then publicly in caps if there is lots of scrolling.

Oh, 1 more thing, I am grey haired, too.

I know it's petty, but the one thing that gets under my skin more than anything else is....

"BUYING All your Imperial Commendations - 100g!!!"
"WTB All Monastery Credits - 50g!!! Will buy any amount you have!!!"

These folk are just trying to scam newbies who haven't figured out the worth of these items yet and I think it's just low and rotten. Whenever I see one of these scammers I respond in open chat that "<insert name here> is a scammer. Credits are worth 100g and Commendations are 200g" and I'll offer to buy any from his prospective customers for that price.

Usually the scammer whispers something that I can't repeat in mixed company, and/or tries to convince me that he's not a scammer, just an honest businessman trying to make an honest buck with his measly 5k savings.

I only put people on ignore if they are being nasty for no reason. I've had people pm, calling me names and stuff and then put me on ignore. Guess they don't want any feedback of their opinion.

Not totally grey, but getting there.

It's the same with trade contracts. When I hear that, I always tell them that they can use them to get gems and don't sell them so cheap. The scammers totally hate that.

To the op, there are always children who call you noob for the dumbest of reasons. I always tell them, only noobs call others noob. It confuses them and in turn, shuts them up for a bit. lol

It's a good idea to keep all channels off and turn them on as necessary (ie. team-chat if you're PuGing). I also set 'offline' most of the time because I talk to my friends and guildmates over vent, so in-game chat is largely unnecessary. A few months ago, before I started closing all channels by default, 99% of the chat I saw ingame was brain-rotting garbage. I can't imagine what it's like now.

As for using bad builds, the furthest I'll go is kicking people. I've stopped having to put them on ignore because they can't PM me through 'offline' mode anyway.
