I just wanna say firstly that this isn't a petition. I just want to hear people's opinions towards this. That may be a bad way to start this, but here goes:
I think it would make targetting slightly easier if, when in an explorable area, you were unable to highlight non-priority targets.
Now, I suck at definitions. To explain, here's an example: In combat, when you try to click on a monster, you may also highlight your allies, or other selectable objects. This could lead to you misclicking on an ally instead of the enemy, or whatnot.
I feel like it could make things easier if you were able to configure what could be highlighted when your mouse is over it. For instance, if you're a monk, you could configure it so you could only highlight on ally unless you hold down the alt key, or whatever. if you're attacking, make it so you could only target enemies.
I might just suck at targetting. Like, *really* suck, even after this time. But if it's a kind of a problem for others, than what do you think?
I'm also not really complaining. Just an idea. I'm still havin' a blast in battle.
So, what do you think?
An improvement to an already decent targetting system

I never mouse target, personally. C, tab, v, and space are very much your friends. As a monk this'd be problematic because it can be necessary to target both allies and enemies. For more offense related classes, it would be no bad thing to be able to select mouse highlighting however.

C is your best friend in combat. always follow the rule of "Hit closest bad guy first"
Oh as for monks, i binded my party to the numberpad, it takes awhile to get used to, but its fast

You dont want to target allies during a battle? Then dont.
Use 'tab' to cycle the enemies in the area, and then target them by pinging.
You can only target your allies if you...
1) click on them or
2) Press the key to target an allie (im not sure which it is, but I think its v).
I cant say I've ever accidently targetted an allie during battle. Although im an elemental, so I dont need to.
What you want already exists! Have fun :P
