morning greens?

I was just wondering if this seemed to happen to anyone else.

I seems like hunting greens in the early morning (about 6 am) is more successful than any other time. Of all the greens I have gotten, all exept one have happened between 6 am and 9 am after only one or two tries at the boss - even with henchies and heroes. Any other time of the day and they just don't seem to drop - even when I am soloing. Probably just luck, I guess, but I was curious if anyone else was having the same experience.

I think it might have to do with how many people are on. The drop rate might depend on demand, more people, same amount of drops, yet it seems like less because the same amount of greens has to be spread out.

Drop rate has nothing to do with time of day, or how many people are on, or what profession you play or how the planets are aligned on a certain month when the moon is full.

The only thing that matters is how much you are farming in a certain amount of time before the anti farming code kicks in. It's not specific on how this works but that's the only thing that affects the normal drop rate.

It's called luck. Good luck or bad luck, that's how greens drop. The "wheel" spins and the computer comes up with "105g" for a prize. But you did get a drop off the boss so at least you know the heros/henches didn't get it.

Remember also that 6-9am for you is a completely different time of day to another time zone.

Same here. 30+ bosses killed and no greens. Solo'd half a dozen and still nothing.

If you ask me, Anets code aint working properly.

EDIT to add.

Just did 7 boss runs and got...

Has anyone noticed an actual increase, or is it just an illusion because of killing more bosses than you would normally?

you've been playing for 17 hours. Please read more carefully next time and take a break from farming in the wrong continent.

NP, and good luck. The rate has been pretty good for our guild this weekend. Some have had much better luck than others. I've gotten a few greens on solo runs, but more impressively, my guildmate has gotten probably 15 greens while farming with heros. Not bad.

Lol, nice.

You've been playing for 17 hours. please DO NOT take a break, since we are all having too much fun laughing at the fact that you're farming on the wrong continent.

The guy admitted he made a mistake. Let it go. Besides, you really dont have much room to make fun of him since you thought the number of people online affected drops.

I was playing with my guild, and they all got Green drops, at least one, but me not one at all. Bad Luck you say, I doubt it. The only good part was that my guildee's were nice enough to share in the drops, so it turned out alright in the end.

Actually - that is not technically true. Unlike a physical wheel, a computer can not generate true randomness. In fact, if you know the method the programmers use to generate pseudo-randomness, it is possible to accurately predict the outcome. Obviously, since we players are not privy to the code, we can not do that. However, it is to be expected that players will notice breakdowns in the randomness of drops.

Back to the original question, if I am the only one tending to get green drops in the morning, it means nothing. If, however, several others have experienced it, then there is the possibility that the programmers did, in fact, factor in the number of people on line at a time - which does not seem likely. Or, which seems more likely, they keep the economy stable with code that if a particular boss is being farmed by a lot of people in a short period of time, his likelihood of dropping the green items would decrease. That would ensure that green items remain rare and fairly expensive, even during triple green weekends.

So, once more, I would like to know, anyone else experience better drops in the early morning hours?

Well, it was intended to be a non-technical explanation that could be understood by anyone.

Back to your question - want to tell us in which time zone you live? Otherwise, early morning means nothing.

Again, your theory is crap because of time zones.

You've got a ton of parinoia over this and I'm sorry to tell you it is almost definately not true.

I too have experienced it.

Greens drop more often in early hours.
Also I've been chest-running a lot lately and in the early hours I find almost every chest to have a golden drop for me. Same chests in afternoon drop 50/50 gold/purple.

Altho Gaile may say it's the same for everyone. From my own experience I say otherwise.
Morning-runs FTW

Funniest part is, I got 2 greens. But it wasn't in Cantha, it was in Tyria. An suffice it to say, my personal green drop rate has been previously non-existant. I was getting bored of some of my current characters so I decided to play one that's been on the shelf for a while. Went outside Deldrimor War Camp and BANG! one right after another. The kicker is, I had a full group of henchies. So ya, I'm gonna go with the whole "It's completely random and relies on nothing but the whims of a randomly generated reward" thing.

P.S. Ya, and not one single green drop in Cantha.

I have also noticed this, I get more greens earlier morning 7-9am, than playing in the evening 7-9pm, and as I play 7-9pm pretty much 7 days a week, and only 7-9am 2 days a week this can't just be random.

Its all pretty simple:

[joking]When I'm on no greens drop for anybody, and when off they might occassionally drop for all you if the wind is blowing from the NW direction [/joking]

It is quite possible that the number of people online can affect how many greens drop. We all know that the anti-farming code is what affects drops, but nobody knows the specifics.

It may be possible that ANet has built in an automatic nerf system. For example, if in the past few hours, a particular green item was dropped 10,000 times (when in the past it only dropped 2,000 times), the system may automatically reduce the drop rate because it means that someone figured out a really good solo build. I wouldn't be surprised if such a mechanism was built into the game.

yup yup, i was experiencing it, until this morning >,> i think this post kinda shut the game down haha j/k, i can usually get 3 - 5 runs in before i have to head off to school at 6.50 am (EST)...and usually 4/5 drops a green, (sadly i wasted all 5 runs on Arbor Earthcaller or w/e his name is north of Durheim and only got 8 Warden Horns) >,< bleh, i just want his staff and Grabthar's hammer, then i can go finish off getting r9 in HA

~And about Cantha's "-3x drop rate" might have something to do with most of the people that's usually in HA, Tyria, Elona, GvG, what ever they seem to be doing in the mornings, was instead in Cantha...i know american districts HA which is usually 1-2 dists only had about 4 people in dist 1, and int dist which is usually 1 - 3 was 1 - an almost empty 2...personally i thought the event would attract most of the GW population to Cantha and took it upon my self to give a couple Kaolin runs then headed off to farm Elona, to find a much...better drop rate
