Scar Eater Drops and the Green Drop System

Nobody knows exactly how the anti-farming code works. The reason why people keep bringing up the rumor that "other people farming affects your drops" is that it often fits with observation.

It might be just anti-farming code at work. By the time a solo build for a certain boss gets popular, you probably farmed the boss a lot, so you may be fooled when your drops start to decrease.

But then again, from personal experience, it seems that in some situations, the rumor does seem true. I remember when the IDS first came out, I was one of the first people to discover how to solo farm for it. I got about 3 IDS swords per run and earned my FoW armor in a few hours. However, everybody started to farm for the IDS and soloing the entire cave would maybe give an IDS every three runs. Anti-farm code? I tried using my friends account and it is still about once every three runs. Maybe there is truth to the rumor. Or maybe ANet just realized that a particular rare item is dropping too much and they tweaked the drop percentage. Without knowing exactly what the anti-farm code is, we can't be certain.

When I was trying the A/E green farming build, I died and mapped back to town and tried again. Just dying and mapping got me the "you have killed too much, too fast" message, but I didn't kill anything.

That would be the only viable way of decreasing drops IMO without causing too much hassle. Open the database and change a number so it affects everyone all the time, no exceptions.

Nothing at all, but my guildies were overjoyed with it. I rarely sell items, I keep them in the family, works perfectly if the rest of the family thinks the same way and gives me something tasty in return every now and then. I only sell really rare items that I don't need for my own chars, if it fits on one of my chars I customize them, like I did with Urgoz' Bow.
A good trader just finds a random noob and sells him scar eater for 10k, trading really is a game in a game. Even when the noob pays 10k he has quite an OK deal, crafting a weapon yourself costs 5k + materials already, so the noob only gets shafted for 4k and he still has a good staff.

yea it was getting hard to sell a scar for 10k before the event so what are people actually getting now? has it gone the way of shredders talons and ure lucky to get 500g for it?

That's something I will never grasp, why should I sell a green for 500g while crafting an ordinary weapon costs 5k? I would charge 5k at the least or else the buyer can kiss my hairy whatever. I tried to sell a factions endgame green (quite ordinary fire wand) and some tard offered me 1k. I refused and he cussed at me and called me a noob. That's one of the reasons why giving away greens makes me feel way happier then selling them.

Most traders that are really good at what they do are probably farming DoA already. People made millions by selliing DoA weapons just because they were there first. A good trader runs ahead of the crowd, he doesnt try to farm areas that are easy to reach and well known to a majoriy of players but he has a nose for the special things before you and I can smell them, same as in real life.

Has anyone noticed a reversal of drops? Here is my example:

I like to do the koosun/sseer run I usually get one koosun every 10-15 runs. I do sseer as a bonus since im right next to him, but have only gotten one of his greens over several months of trying.

This weekend I did this same run, alot, got no koosuns and many sseers. Seems odd, I realize its random or chance. But still seems like the reverse happened, the drop rate of koosun became worse, and sseer became better.

Same thing happened for scar and sunreach and arbor. In this case it worked to my advantage, never got any of those to drop over several days of trying, but this weekend I did very well.

Not sure if this makes sense on the random thing, just wanted to see if anyone else experienced opposite drop rates like this.

Some people would come up with "I don't get any drop this week. It must be that there are too many people farming this weekend so the chance of me getting the drop is less, blah blah blah my alliance said so (as if that means anything) blah blah".

Then some people would say that they've got more drops than usual, while some people would refer to previous Gaile's messages about how people outside your instance don't affect you in ANY way (other than, well, maybe lag). THEN some ignorant individuals would come up with "I don't believe Gaile" or "She lied before" or something like that. Then the mods would close such thread for "Gaile bashing" (although sometimes it don't go that far).

See the trend? or better, REMEMBER the threads?

No? Well, poor you. Here they are.-

You may notice in the second link above (Darksong something) that Myria also posted similar replies on such thread, in which I've posted some replies to her citing Gaile's words, and then Gaile decided to reply to the thread as well. Clearly she decided to ignore them and instead posted the exact same stuff here, AGAIN.

I guess I'll just copy all this into a text file so I can REPOST it again in the next event.
QFT. It's an old song that the malcontents sing, and it's very predictable. People like Myria will surely whine and not listen to the facts, as officially stated many times (and linked above), as well as more than ample empirical evidence, per this thread.

And, I raked in the greens too, because I know how to farm. Simple as that.
