IMO the Tengu mask is the coolest one around and when I wear it ppl keep asking me where I got it.
I feel sorry to tell them it was a pre-order item and that they can't get it anymore because it looks really awesome on my ranger with 15k drakescale and on my new paragon.
In my days of Tenguslaying I came across alot of different Tengu's which would make very cool masks.
So, for all that missed it and for all that want a new one, please do the tengu event this year /begs :P

Day of the Tengu was supposed to be only for those that were in Factions from the get go...pre-order(24hr early start) and on the opening weekend. We already cheapened all the other hat/masks this one should stay special. IMO.

BTW, it WAS NOT a Canthan Holiday, it was to celebrate Tengu Wars begin over...(maybe in another chapter it will be an actual Holiday.

^ Agree with Tempy. Tengu masks should be kept as that special sort of mask. Besides i think the Canthan New Year event will replace the slot of the Day Of The Tengu.

Well, one could argue that doing the Halloween event a second time was taking away the uniqueness of the people who bought the game before the first halloween event.

The Day of the Tengu is a celebration marking the end of the Tengu Wars. That would mean that it wouldn't be something that the Canthans would do every year, since the Dragon Festival is to mark the Survival of the "Empire of the Dragon" (Shiro's first death).

It's also obvious that ArenaNet has realised the issues with doing a pre-order only event, as is evident with the fact that people who got the Nightfall pre-order, didn't get a 24 hour head start.

And really, why are you people getting so worked up over something that cost $5? It's not like the pre-order was expensive.

It would be nice if ANet actually left it alone, instead of caving on it, like with other things. Why bother doing anything for something special; when you can just wait until enough people complain that they didn't get one or have the chance because they did other things or didn't get the game until after the event, and get it then. And then complain about what ya get.

Where does it stop? When FoW is available in your guild hall?

I'm perfectly fine with keeping it a one-time event even though I missed it, since it sounds like lore-wise that's what it was supposed to be. Cantha should get another holiday to compensate, of course, but I gather that's what Canthan New Year is for.

(this is not having a go at you tempy but all those critisizers)people will always complain with what they get nothings ever good enough for those people well think about all those little kids living in poverty if they had a go at guildwars it would probably be amazing they wouldnt even know somthing like it exists so before you people complain about stuff think

Keep the event as it's apparently (in story) an anual thing.

Change the hat so that there's a noticable difference, everyone wins.

Where does it stop? When FoW is available in your guild hall? Uhm, how about yeah? I had to go to UW and Fow for about a year just to collect enough freaking ectos and shards for my character with FoW, so why not just allow me to buy the freaking armor at my Guild Hall?

Allow us the pleasure of a freaking tengu hat because I was here on the first hallow's eve and X-mas and I didn't complain when everyone had a 2nd year to get hats again and they dumbed it down so you can have hats on all characters. I was one of the few who spent the whole day every 3 hours at those events just to have a freaking hat for each of my characters just so the next year everyone can have one easily on each character. lol anyways, don't hate, share the love, share the gutted out skull remains of those avian friends whom we backstabbed to wear their heads for fun!

They can have the event, just not the Tengu Helm. Thats my idea for it!

Just put some reason like:
The Celestial Ministry does not want us to be crafting our Tengu Masks, as it may instigate Naga troubles on Shing Jae Island.

Mabye you guys can think up something better.

It was a shame I missed out on this one. I'd certainly be keen to see a similar event, perhaps with the mask somewhat different to preserve some of the uniqueness. I, as well as a number of friends out my way preordered the collector's edition of Factions but sadly it was delayed reaching us so we only got it 2 or 3 days after the event due to some distribution problems in NZ.

Honestly though, while I can understand people's want to preserve their uniqueness, as a general rule it doesn't really bother me if other people get access to an event which allows them to get a mask I already have. As long as people are having fun, great stuff.

I have never felt like a Title or Item has lost it's "elite value" just because ANet thought everyone should have a chance to get it. All it means is that the game is more fun to a broader audience.

If I have an AWSOME item that removes DP, others have the same chance to get it. If I have a Tengu Mask, others should be able to check one out sometime. I won't think any less of them just for wanting to have fun. ^_^

I'm going to have to agree with others that it was supposed to be for pre-order people only. However I might be willing to /sign it if there were some way to keep it that way.

EDIT: For example you need to have a tengu mask on in order to get access to the events.

Well, I did pre-order Factions, I collected 250 naga fangs, but didn't have time to cash them in at one of the emperors visits. I still have my 250 fangs, but no mask...

Just make another mask design, there are many Different tipes of tengu (Hawk-face, Eagle-face, Crow-face, etc...)

The preorder was 'exclusive enteing BEFORE others' not to 'keep a party for themselves'.

You got the party because you entered earlier.

Yes, THAT mask, THAT party, in THAT time was preorder.
But if they make a new party this year, it WILL be opened to EVERYONE.

I'm sure everyone who pre-ordered got the chance for the tengu mask (I think every got sent(emailed) an order code. I like to think the tengu mask is like the divine aura it's exclusive, It would be strange to repeat the event as it was'nt so big(just a few quests).

I think what he was trying to get at was that many, many people, myself included actually did pre-order Factions and was anticipating the official launch, but for one reason or another, wasn't able to play the game during the 24 hour head start, nor on the official launch day due to various reasons - oh say because of work and family. Let's also get the record straight that the mask was NOT a pre-order item like the Dagger and Staff were for the A and Rt professions. The mask was simply an event reward given to those players who were able to play on launch day and collect the 250 fangs necessary to trade in. There was much ado about this on the forums at the time, which is one of the reasons why many of the events now last several days, and the Dragon Festival hat trader was around for nearly a week after the event.

I don't see anything wrong with making this an annual event as any of the other holiday events are and offering a new hat during the event. Can anyone say that the first Halloween or Christmas hats are lame and cheapened after the second go around? Can anyone honestly say that the Dragon Mask or Lion Mask will be cheapened and Lame once the second annuals for those events come around again? Let's get real people. There should be no reason not to have this event again and offer a 2007 Tengu Mask in return.
