There's really only E/Mo for GvG and/or (IMO) PvE...

Except, of course for E/me, E/A, and E/D, all of which are solid choices seen in top tier play.

Just go e/mo. No one wants an e/me running around in gvg, because he's not going to have any sort of utility, and ele damage is terrible.

'Cept for Searing Flames, which 1) is going to get nerfed and 2) you can't do much with your /Me anyway, why not go /Mo for at least something (I don't know, Draw maybe? Purge Sig, even? I don't play SF.)

E/A is viable in top tier play, but will get nerfed, so I won't recommend a complete newbie to play that, since the future of it is uncertain.

E/me is used for obsidian flame spike, which was pretty godly there for a while.

E/D, well I was thinking of gankers, which E/A is better for. I retract that one.

If you go E/mo, people will expect you to be an ele.

If you go Mo/x people will expect you to be a monk.

See a pattern?

The most recent Obsidian Flame spike I knew was E/Mo with wards and...Heal Area, I think? =P

I think that's the HA one. The GvG one used mantra of resolve and was capable of splitting, unlike the heal area build.

All in all, even if E/Me can do obsid-flame spikes, it isn't an optimal overall profession for GvGing or PvEing (PvEing is, of course, IMO).

The Elementalist, being more of a support profession, gets more utility in the Monk secondary as well as being able to pump out Heal Party.
