Hero's & Personalized Weapons

I accidentally double clicked a sword I had in my inventory which is personalized for my warrior. Just so happened my hero Koss was open in the character window. The sword swapped for his & he was now weilding my warrior's sword. I didnt think to go outside to see if Koss was still weilding it but I am now wondering if hero's can use a weapon personalized for other characters.

Heroes can use weapons personalized for their master, but not for other people.
