Hello ANet :-)
I have been trying to get some Cartographers titles and I found that the way it is implemented, although possible, it is VERY cumbersome. I know that you will tell me that it is supposed to be difficult to get the GrandMaster Cartographer title. I will agree with you. But isn't it difficult and extremely time consuming for someone to go through ALL the map even once?!!
My suggestions are :
1. Whenever you enter an explorable area or City/Outpost, next to the name that appears briefly in the beginning, you can add a % number denoting the % uncovered by the specific character.
This is going to be a great help for someone that has 96.8% of the map uncovered and doesn't know which parts of the map he/she has missed. It is really unproductive, disheartening and plainly time devouring to go through all the maps, or start comparing 100% opened maps with what you have, in order to find the differences.
By using this technique you will be able to "pinpoint" the explorable area that is not fully uncovered.
2. If you want to make it even easier, you can do this :
When someone is looking at the map by hitting "M", he/she could press a combination of keys (eg. ctrl+alt+M) which will show in a bright clear color the parts of the map of the specific territory he is in, that are not uncovered. This could be a toggle combination.
ANet has gone into so much trouble and have really thought through this game to get rid of the cumbersome, frustrating, unproductive, infuriating aspects of other MMORPG games. Map traver is just one of them.
This is what makes this game, really stand out of the croud. I am sure that ANet's intention is not to have players go though every corner of the map, over and over again just to get the titles.
Thank you for listening :-)

. Even if I didn't have them I would vote against this change. It would just be too easy. Map to explorable check it 100%, okay, it is. Repeat until you find one that isn't and skirt the edges. Toooo easy dude. While this would help if I did want to do Cantha, which I might, I don't want it just makes it even more boring imo.
