Rather than add new primary professions to future expansions why not add new secondaries only.
This would stop us creating lots of new characters.
Ease the problems of balancing
remove the need to balance new primary attributes
remove the need for new armour for new professions
but still get something new to play around with
Future professions be secondaries only

No. Just no.
The new primary attributes are aimed at the specific profession only mainly anyway (sin, paragon, ritualist, dervish is only exception but it's the only profession that benefits from it).

Doesn't sound like a good idea. All you are doing is adding skills then
OK, so just put those skills into one of the 30 attributes in the game (I'm sure it will fit into one of them, no? ) What you are describing as "more to play with" is bascially this: more skills.

You can still use any new primary profession as a secondary to any of your exisiting characters.................

Lame ideas are FTL!

I agree, if you don't wish to create a new character just use the new professions as new 2nds for your existing toons. Or just play your existing toons through the new content. Nobody forces anyone to create a new toon just because there is a new chapter out.

...but...but... I only play this game for the armor....

ANet wants you to buy more character slots. You don't have to if you don't want to.

I actually like the idea. Not for character slots. But there is a balance between too many choices and not enough. I think we are well past the "not enough" stage at this point.
I'd actually prefer it if they just added new attributes to the existing professions. But that's off-topic.
