non-pet thumper
Wingless_Warrior
here is a build i made while joking around with some friend, i dont know if it can be used in a large scale pvp situation ( HA,RA,TA) but fi your just scrimmaging against a warrior or dervish 1 on 1 its pretty effective.
attributes:
hammer mastery-12
tatics-8
expertise-12
wilderness survival-8
runes:
sup expertise
minor or major WS ( which ever one you prefer)
any vigor rune (major or sup if prefered)
weapon:
heavey (doesnt matter what type of hammer as long as its max) of defense
15 while stance
as long as the req isnt over 12 your ok
skills:
irrestible blow
auspicious parry [e]
staggering blow
firece blow
apply poison
throw dirt
whirling defense
troll ungent
Note: this build is used for 1 on 1 Vs warriors and dervishs but it can be adpated to go against ele's, rangers, paragons ( necros and mesmers are is this builds bane >_<)
before you engage in the fight use apply poison then run up and hit them with throw dirt followed by irrestible blow. most warriors will have a stance on them before you attack so they will get knocked down then just keep attacking them. with 12 in expertise throw dirt will last for 13 seconds. as soon as it ends activate whirling defense(WD wil last for 18 seconds) staggering blow should be charged so use it to cause weakness then follow up with firece blow (they will have weakness on them for 17 seconds after staggering blow so go ahead and use troll ungent for a +9 health regen) firece blow will do +34 damage since there suffering from weakness) whirling defense should be almost done by now so heres where it gets fun as soon as WD goes down use Auspicious parry( 1 adren 2 sec recharge, for 8 seconds the next attack against you is Blocked and you gain 3 strikes of Adrenaline. this allows for and almost melee negating defense and it will charge staggering and firece blow pretty quick so can keep weakness on them. keep apply poison up at all times as the degen will help in the killing process.
so far with this build ive taken down 2 avatar of balthazar dervishes, to warriors that used enchants to boost there health real high and two assasians. if anyone has any constructive crit it is welcomed with open arms. ( sorry for the double thread posting, if one of the admins could delete the the other one it would be much appreciated)

Thumpers are used to hastle and cause frequent and annoying knockdowns... This build has more survivability... but a lot less damage potential. You also have no IAS or speed boost... so i'm assuming those players you killed just didnt know when to quit.
Wingless_Warrior
not to be rude but i said in my above post that i was just using this build during 1 on 1 scrimmages. plus you can keep weakness on them almost all the time, never said it was ment for damage, its ment to keep melee at bay with blind, stances, weakness and to degen them and it does it pretty well, thanks for your input though its much appreciated, need some more player input so continue to throw the construtive crit this way =)

no source of deep wound.
Crappy attack skills.
Odd skill choices in place (throw dirt and apply poison on a thumper wtf?)
I was expecting a backbreaker or dev hammer thumper with no pet and tiger's fury when I went to this thread, not this.
Of course it'll keep melee at bay...you have throw dirt and auspicious parry. Riposte warriors do the same thing. That doesn't mean either of those builds are useful.

if you swap in heavy blow for fierce blow you'll be able to capitalize on the weakness for kd/interrupting key skills (ie healing)
of course hammer bash will do the same thing all by itself. Killing an opponent quickly is the hammer warrior's best defense in my opinion tho.

@thom- for one, irrestible blow and staggering blow are 2 of the best hammer skills out there, i know theres no source of deep wound, thats why the degen is there and if you havent remember deep wound wears off then they gain that 20% health back =/, blind= melee's worst nightmare, apply= almost constant degen since most non w/mo's dont carry some kind of condition removal, and dual riptose= is scary since the only way to stop is is by not attacking. so please just dont come and insult me when im just trying to put my 2 cents in.
@lennymon- yea but you lose all adrenaline with heavy blow and your gonna need the adren to keep weakness and auspicious up
thanks for the input and crit ( besides the flamer >_<) more constructive crit is appreciated

oh and BTW thom tigers fury wouldnt work in this build cause if you didnt notice, i have no points in BM, just wanted to poit that out =|
Coloneh
no KDs, no attack increase, no deep wound, no reason to use over a warrior.
Wingless_Warrior
please people stop trying to compare my build to the regular thumper build, i was trying to be original with my build, but it seems like people only want the same cookie cutter builds
lennymon
Losing all adrenaline should not be an issue. Auspiciious parry is not an adrenaline hog, its an adrenaline factory to fuel the knockdowns. A knockdown is an auspicious parry with damage and an interrupt...
Wingless_Warrior
yea i know its not an adrenaline hog, but i like having my staggering blow ready to use at any moments notice to keep them weak, thanks for the crit much appreciated
