Its a Rant.. With Ideas Maybe

There is probably a 100 threads like this but here is my nickel for what I’d like to see in interface and ease of use changes on Guild Wars. I just have to rant so forgive me. I also know that ANet does pop in here and well maybe they will listen. (Sounds of laughter)

1) A key ring. A key ring you say?!? Yes A key ring where you can keep your 10 different sets of keys (Okay for my PCs its usually 5 different keys but….) I don’t know about you but where I work the key rings which hold all the keys to everything is huge but can fit in a pocket. It does not take up 5 slots – 1 for each key I am currently carrying.

2) Bigger Storage. My back pack sure looks smaller then the Storage vault of a Xunlai agent, not to mention that somewhere in this magic filled land I probably have a room (Okay a Cell as my main character is a monk) But the point is I have a place where I can fill with mementos and trophies, like the Jade head of Shiro. I mean really you think I’m going to let the Emperor keep that after my mob and I killed the bastard?!? At least let us put bags in there so we don’t have to have 4 characters just for storage.

3) An Interface that will allow me in certain areas (Main Cities / Guild Hall) to switch items around characters and heroes without logging off the character I am on to go to the holding character dumping the items into storage logging back on and having to go to storage to get it. You know how much time I waste fiddling around looking for this or that, or looking to see if I have something someone needs. (And is offering an ungodly amount for.)
4) Moderators in cities. You know I am getting sick and tired of Trade spam in all channel its annoying and ANet should damn well start enforcing that rule. Or code that prohibits the same line from the same person within 2-5 minutes. Or a mute for 10 seconds between a players pose. (Not that that is a great idea but I’m trying to kill spam). Also I am annoyed at RACIST and GRAPHIC SEXUAL CONTENT in cities and towns. The Shing Jea Monastery area 1 can be absolutely graphic in sexual antics. Now here’s a couple of ways to solve this while letting us adults play.

A) A ‘trade city’ put it off Balthazar or something, you want to buy and sell go there. Have tabs in that city allowing people to listen to the channel for the item they want to buy or sell. This must be open to all Chapters and I’d suggest from the get go. Just click the travel icon and Go to Trade City.
B) In the interface a spot where parents can mark the game player as a minor. AND PASSWORD LOCK IT. A simple check box is going to be unchecked in a nano second.
C) A district in every city marked Adult, let us adult’s boff, screw, hump as we are want to do on the internet and keep the kiddies out of it.

5) When I go to Guildwars.com and click support, Then my location, I want on this page http://www.plaync.com/us/support/prod_48.html a simple easy button at that page that will take me here http://help.plaync.com/cgi-bin/playn...nduser/ask.php every time I need help I have to find that ask a question link and go through 7 different pages. Just put it where I can easily find it after clicking Support.

6) Don’t make me kill the wounded corsair to get back the sword. He doesn’t fight he doesn’t have a weapon. (Okay MAYBE the sword is still stuck in him but when you kill him you get the chest, to do not pop up as victory spoils usually do). I don’t know about you but killing wounded unarmed people is against the law here. Hunting them down so you can get your sword back I think qualifies as a war crime too. Okay my Necro would probably happily slaughter everyone who is not her friend, but my monk found the killing of non combatant wounded person distasteful.

7) Allow me to divide keys, candy canes, and alcoholic beverages. I have 1000 candy canes in storage do not make me carry all 1000 when all I want is to take 5 per character. Really asking a guild mate to come over so I can split up my candy canes, booze and such is FRIGGING ANNOYING.

8) Fix the Male Necro in Nightfall all of the faces look like he got a baseball bat in the face. Female necros, cute as buttons, males all need facial reconstruction. I am convinced that ANet avatar designers are 40 year old men who live under their desks at work and are still virgins. I have yet to see an ugly female avatar that I can recall, ugly males abound. As a 30 something male who plays this game I’d like my male avatar not to look like they got baseball bats in the face. Male Necros where so bad I made a female!

9) Don’t make my Paragon’s dance like Michael Jackson. It’s creepy. Thankfully I bought Collectors so I don’t have to.

There I think I have ranted enough for the moment. I am sure I’ll rant more later but right now I’m done.

You realize that you can do this already, right? Just hold down the shift button - it will let you split a stack.

Obviously I did not or it would not have been on this list.

Damn Have I been stupid and so have my guildies.

To address your points, which should each have a thread of their own for discussion.

1. Been suggested before, still a good idea.

2. Same as point 1.

3. For security if your account got hacked, you wouldn't lose all your characters and their possessions.

4A. Trade house has been mentioned and asked for since April 2005.
4B. If you are concerned about your kids playing Guild Wars, you as a parent have the responsibility (not Anet) to ensure what your kids see/hear/play is in line with your morals and ethics.
4C. Uhhh....no way should this ever be allowed!!!

5. That deals with the internet service (specifically the website), not the game.

6. Abandon the quest if it offends your monk's sensibilities.

7, Already able to do this, Shift+click is your friend.

8. Nothing wrong here, Necros deal with the dead, they shouldn't be glamour buys.

9. lol, this is the second worst dance in the game.

Yeah... that one took me about 10 months to find.... Followed by several weeks of shame.

This has been asked for before, however, think carefully, you have 45 slots on every character you make, you have 25 slots on your storage, along side a seperate material storage that holds 250 of each material (and unless your an ecto farmer) you don't need more than that... They also just added the festival hat maker aswell, meaning you don't need to hold onto your festival hats anymore if you need space

All we really need now is a Dye Storage tab in the storage

This is done for security reasons... Ok, it doesn't help if your account gets hacked, but hey, that happens

Just for a minute, think to yourself how many moderators it would take just to look after Lion's Arch... if there are only 1 district per country and region, that means there would be 10 moderators for Lion's Arch alone and that would need to be 24/7... Not gonna happen

3. If your account got hacked everything is gone either way. The person just hast to log back on and strip your other accounts.. There is no protection in NOT allowing people to access there characters (In the same login) to swap items around.

4B. Correct to a point. How can you keep children from seeing and dealing with graphic sexual content, racisim and trolling when you do not have the options to block the items. You can block swear words but any 12 year old knows how to use the options menu. There is not password to lock that feature from the kid unclicking them. Also it is IMPOSSIBLE for a parent to sit and watch thier child on the game all the time. This feature would allow those parents that want to monitor and excercise parental responibility to do that.

4C. I am pretty Libertrian, if I want to allow parents to limit their children's exposure to Adult Sexual Content then I feel it is only right to allow mature adult players access to areas where they can feel free to do what they like without minors present. While I personally do not want to see Beautiful Gai's antics in Shing Jea Monestary I do think allowing an adult area is a suitible and mature compromise.

6. Still leaves that annoying Green Exclaimation point then.

Obviously you only play one chapter and get rid of all the keys to the other areas after you move on. Your Bags can not be filled with Luxon, Kurzick, Shing Jea, Cathan, Etc Etc Keys.

Obviously you think its fine just to have a character for your runes, for your golds, for your greens and for your alcohol, candy canes etal.

If we go with more tabs there is more the dye that I would want. Runes, festival items (Candy canes, Tonics yatter yatter)

Right it does not help get rid of the 'protection' and allow me with my 10+ alphanumeric password to freely swap things around EFFICENTLY

You've never seen Second Life then. Their kid areas are fairly well monitored and its volunteer for the post part. You report the person (Screen Shots and logs are helpful). Yes it will be a large chore but you will find if you have an easy simple way to report people and show evidence you will get people who abuse/break the rules disciplined. Reporting infractions in GW is near impossible even if its graphic sexual talk and actions in public areas. Take a look at Shing Jea Dist 1 America after 10pm Eastern some time.

NCSOFT and ANet have the same web people. This is a simple easy suggestion that I find amusing people are not seeing that its a good suggestion.


Why is Roleplaying bad? And if you honestly did not take that as amusing its your tough luck. I still killed him. As for the rest of your tripe I can still bitch and laugh about it as others who have posted are. If you think every poster like this is a noob then call me a noob.. You'd be wrong but hell no skin off my back. if NCSoft/ANet want to be able to claim that they are youth/teen friendly in a way that will go over in the bible belt of the USA they they might want to listen to suggestions like i made. Don't worry I won't be PMing you and I won't be talking with you much either. If you think your holier then though attitude makes me want your advice your wrong. You just make me laugh as you seem to think your way is the right way and try and close suggestions down not allowing people to speak. If NCSoft/ANet does not listen to its customers if GuildGuru did not want a place so suggestions can be made vetted and discussed then why did they do it?

Personally I know when someone goes its a rant, they are ranting and generally not to take most of what they say to seriously. That I like to liven up my issues with quirkier humour. Well I think it makes the read more enjoyable.

Pretty easy if the parent flagged the account as a minor and password locked the flag then the kiddy will have to hack the password to get to the adult area.

Adult areas would not allow those accounts flagged minor into that district.

Actually, i only keep a stock of HIghend chest keys... I actually didn't know what you meant about keys, i see what you mean now though, however,, thats only 6 or 7 sets of keys, and as I can stack them in amounts of 250 and I'll never buy that many, i keep a stack of those 7 in my stoarge and take three or four our for what ever area/mission I happen to be doing at the time

Oh, and The games not about Farming, thats why storage for such is not taken into account, although rune storage would also be a useful addition and i'll add that to my additions thread elsewhere

Fair enuf, however, not everyone has that level of password security, and as such, ANet work on a security stand point for everyone

Actually i thought Second Life was yet again another horribly grindy Korean Style MMO, filled with Fedex quests and go her, go there, pick up reward missions

No, ANet has a website designer for each region, however, NCSoft have one worldwide website that has seperate regions for support due to language differences... Oh, and thats knowledge from being a beta tester for NCSoft on many games... including GW's

I have nothing wrong with RP'ing, i do it myself, but there are better games than Guild Wars for RP'ing

Oh no, thats my bad, no one on Guru knows me very well and I'm unfortunately a bit harshe sometimes, but I pride myself on helping people, hence having run a successful guild for two years now

however, i appologise for being overly harshe in my response, however, even a rant can be turned into constructive criticism, or overturned using the right arguments and answers

And on the humour thing, you and me both, problem is humour and sarcasm doesn't translate very well over the intanetz...

On the Suggestions, most of the current and now, no longer, Elite Fansites have a suggestions section which I know is read very regularly (everyday Alex?) by the Devs, however, they just never post... Which unfortunately means that we'll never know if they like the ideas or not or even implement them

Hopefully more people will write out their thoughts aswell, but there still needs to be discussion
