It's been suggested.
It's been laughed at.
There is absolutely no advantage to making a 55 ranger. It's an even worse idea than making a 55 warrior.

perhaps not worse than warrior... heh but certainly not so good.

55 refers to the number of health points. Many months ago, some insightful person discovered that by reducing the health of necros and monks to 55 using all superior runes, boosting regen using mending and most importantly limiting damage with Protective Spirit it was possible to create a sometimes invulnerable character, except when faced with degen or skilled interuption.
They remain practical for farming hydra, minotaurs, etc.
A 55 ranger is not likely to be very successful because even with radiant attire he will probably have insufficient energy to maintain the healing spells.

Before the advent of many other more practical builds... a 105hp Ranger was the only way to solo the FoW Forest. It's since been replaced by better builds (Remmeh's in particular).

Lam3sk (sorry for mispelling name) had the sickest build I've ever seen, with like 4 different armor sets/tactics for different monsters, think itu sed prot spirit/prot bond or something like that.
But yeah, expertise doesn't reduce the cost of anything important to 55/105/605 builds, therefore there's no advantage to making a 55 ranger over a 55monk

I've done a 55 ranger before (though before Nightfall and its upgrades came out... if that makes a difference), and energy was the main problem. The only monsters I could farm were the minotaurs at Elona's Reach, and only a few at a time lest I get overwhelmed. And, since a ranger doesn't have the energy reserves or the self-sustained energy regeneration of a caster, I was constantly teetering at the edge of depleting all of my energy. Once the mob starts dwindling, so does my energy regeneration (because I'm not getting hit enough), and if the last 1 or 2 don't drop in a few seconds, I'm dead.
Those minotaurs never gave me anything substantial either.
