I know what it seems like, but loading times have nothing to do with your internet connection, unless you are downloading something. Did you install any software on your computer for your DSL? Also, is your hard drive light blinking or turned on the whole time while you are lagging?

I have Optimum Online cable with a decent computer and I still get more lag than you do. Try doing some virus scans and cleaning out your hard drive, and contact NCSoft if you still experience any problems. Defragmenting your computer helps too.

Actually it does make quite a difference. As loading times include connecting to the "town" or "outpost". I normally play on dial up. (Back to the future?) But playing on a broadband connection my load times are even faster, usually a second or two. Where on dial up they are around 5 or so. Very populated districts take longer to load as well, where on broadband there was little difference. For me at least.
But anyhow, are you sure your connection is set up properly? Ports forwarded on your router (assuming you use one) and all that jazz? Make sure it's not your router, try another or a friends, or take yours to a friend house and give it a shot.
I'd give ya more, but supper is on, soo if that doesn't help...
NC support would be not be a bad idea either.

For a bit of information. NEVER TURN OFF YOUR FIREWALL. Doing this can cause major problems with unwanted people hacking into your computer. A properly set-up firewall will not impede the game client. I asume that you know how to do the port forwarding so i wont go into that. If doing that doesnt work then contact your isp to get help. I do not believe NC-Soft can help as this sounds like another isp issue. good luck.

I have no idea on how to port forward , besides that i have done everything except contact NC. Can neone explain to me how to port forward?

For people to be able to help you with port forwarding, you will need to determine your firewall situation. Also are you the Admin of the system ? I assume it given the defrag and other steps youve taken, but just checking, you'll need to be, or you should need to be(Admin), to do anything to the firewall.
Sooo, find out what the deal is with your firewall. Is it software only, or hardware, or both ? When you know what firewall(s) you are running, someone will be able to offer more concrete help with the porting. Good luck.

That is just an aside from the topic. Granted Never turning off your firewall is a good recommendation, however I would say there are quite a number of exceptions to that rule. Thats my take on it, that of course may not jive with your previous post. Though in most circumstances Firewalls no matter if they are hardware or software driven impede that ability of a service provider to provide support.

I am the admin and my firewall is software based Trend PC Cillin or the Windows Firewall.

I did noticed that since Nightfall updates came out, the memory requirements for gw did go up. I had 512mb of ram and I noticed that the computer was hitting the swapfile more often when going into a town. I ended up upgrading 256mb more ram and the problem disappeared.

Well i Would like to say TY all for your advice, I FIXED it. No more Slow Loading or Town Entrance lag. I reverted back to the old Nvidia Driver 77. something instead of the newest one and it fixed it. I did not install or add in any programs (just to let you guys know). It's really weird how it fixed my problem.

77.? The latest is 93.71. I've been running GW with it for a while and not had any problems. Or did you revert to the 77(something) drivers?

Glad to hear that you got it fixed. As far as Beta drivers go I realy do not trust them as they can still contain bugs that even the manufacturer hasn't found yet (that is why they release them in beta so we as the consumer become testers). I will look at the release notes on a new driver and if it says beta I will not get it. I usualy stick with the original drivers until I realy need to upgrade them, or something is going crazy with my computer due to the old ones.

Same here, why cause myself possible extra headaches when I don't need to. ^^
I was meaning release drivers btw, not beta ones.
