Ive noticed a lot of the same questions asked over and over again on the hero forums. So to save us a whole lot of trouble and bother I am going to gradually work on a Hero FAQ. A lot of this FAQ will be taken from http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Hero.
Please post more of the FAQ you see on the forums and I will gradually add them to the FAQ.
What is a hero?
Quote:
A hero is a new kind of computer-controlled party NPC introduced in the Guild Wars Nightfall campaign, but they can be used in Tyria and Cantha if you have the Nightfall campaign. Unlike henchmen, a hero is customizable by the player, including the hero's weapons, armor, and most importantly the hero's skills.

It has every hero you'll use.
How should I level up my low level heros?
A perfered method is to do a quest with high level heros or henchmen just as you normally would. However instead of normally accepting the quest, drop the heros and add your lower level heros instead. The high level heros will do all the work while the low level heros are reaping the benefits.
Why can't I get rid of my hero's pets?
I dont know. Anet just doesn't want you to. There is no known way to get rid of hero's pets and I believe Gaile has acknowledged this and the dev team is going to fix it sometime. Additionally, there is no way to rename your pet's names.
Why is my hero using skill X instead of skill Y?
Hero AI is rather weird. I feel this post sums it up best so I'll let that user say it:

There is *some* intelligence there - in general your longest recharge skill is the one you want compied so that gets the highest priority (higher than leftmost skill). Somethings - like Death Nova or Jagged Bones tends to have such a high priority that they overrule everything else.
You can tell that position has quite a bit to do with it, just re-order your skills and they will cast in an entirely different manner. Especially true if you have a group of skills that are all about the same (effect, cost, recharge), then "leftmost" tends to be the major factor. For example, if you have several self heals that are about equal in power (Dervish is a good case for this) then it will go pretty much left to right in those skills as its health drops - health dropping being the trigger. In computer science terms you have a priority queue. It examines quite a few factors, assigns skills priority, and the executes the highest one. Going left to right adds a smaller value to the priority but isn't enough to override everything else. Please posts questions that need to be answered here, Ive missed a lot and I know that :-D TheGuildWarsPenguin

Another way is if you beat the mission, Gates of Desolation and not already have Sunspear castellian, is to kill things in the Sulfurous wastes with junundu. |
