Found Mount Everest of Guild Wars^^
m0rgaine
I walked around and found this nice view in Farahnur. I thought the clouds look a bit strange so I took a screen. A few weeks later as i looked through my screens and I noticed that this looks like a very very very large mountain. Ridiculous, such a huge mountain is never mentioned anywhere in the game. Maybe its the canthan version of the fujiyama or something like that^^What do you think?

wow! i've never noticed that great find, i'll check it out sometime, i wonder where it is because its pointing to the north west highly likley it is canthan, of course it could be the shiverpeaks now that i think about it
-.-
If it is the Shiverpeaks then...God damn, Tall Mountain is Taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall!
Correction: That isn't the Shiverpeaks, if you look at the Elonian World map, you will notice that the Shiverpeaks is north of the location not North-west. Nor does it belong to Cantha because Elona is North of Cantha. That means that mountain belongs to an unknown island.

It doesn't move. The mountain you marked seems to be the right direction from jahai, but from farahnur it doesn't match. So maybe it is "a graphic commonly used for far away mountains"?^^ But in this case the mountain you see in Farahnur must be on an other map, which will be clear if you compare it to the distance from Jahai to the marked mountain.
Arkantos
Wow, that's an amazing site.
Feme Assassin
maybe something from a different dimension
j/k

Taala
Impressive mountain, but I wouldn't be looking at maps to see which mountain it is. Most likely it's just a common sky texture they use and it behaves just like the one in Kaineng, where you can see city buildings in the distance even when you are looking at the open sea.

Thats the magic floating mountain where Chapter 4 takes place. It appears every 1000 years and guess which year this is? =)

You are probably right it seems liek an important mountain that keeps on poping up. Maybe it is the mountains which are going to be in the Norse mythology storyline of the fourth book as everyone is saying.

Uh... I don't want to be the first to say this but it's got to come up eventually.... ahem...... *cough*photoshopped*cough*.. sprints away

oh yeah its photoshopped, I changed the pic from .bmp to .jpg
No rly you can go look for yourself. Enter Farahnur from Blacktide Den and walk all the way west.

It is not photoshopped. Here it is from another area of The First City.
Also, the mountain can't be the Shiverpeaks.
That's the general direction the mountains are, and as you can see it's quite far from the Shiverpeaks. Pure speculation here, but the mountain could be from the land north of Tyria. If the rumours that GW4 will take place in the lands north of Tyria, maybe we're looking at a Norse theme afterall.

okay here's a spin of things and i'm not sure if i'm right either since i have yet to find him there myself (though there are confirmed reports of it..)
if any of you had visited the thread about Bahltek, he's an npc that mysteriously pops up in 4 locations on the island and he pops up in the hidden the city. i'm wondering if it this could tie into that mystery (as someone in the thread had posted about and hence referred to this thread) because i think Bahltek actually faces in the general direction of that mountain, if that mountain is not some random graphic. and if so...well dang o_O
(i know what Taala is talking about in terms of the city texture in the sky in kaineng and raisu palace when it's just sea)

eh i was bored so i decided to take a look. its not as big as the 1 in the first pic but u can see it
Giga Strike
maybe its a mountain on the battle isles. or it could be abbadon's mouth in the ring of fire islands. or it could be a cloud formation, that would explain why it shows up in multiplt places.
Martian
What? why is this still going on? I posted a screenshot of what that place reallyl ooks like, there is no mountain, check the attachment further up. Why are you carrying this on?

if you twist the cam just right, the moutain can be in the place of the black dot on the map

I think that Arena net will want to build on the ability to turn into a creature for a few missions so they might add the ability to turn into a dragon because you have to fly to get to the top of that mountain in the next game. Its only a wild guess but it would be awesome to be a dragon for a few levels. It would probably be too expensive to and break most peoples graphics cards, even so it would be nice.

Wow, that is very interesting.
A few comments:
Well, take what you will from my ramblings.
A few comments:
- If this is an actual (enormous) mountain somewhere to the northwest of Elona, why can't it be seen from Tyria, where it would be closer?
- Could this be related to the 'black dot' that appears on the map after the completion of Nightfall?
- I just remembered something that Bahltek, the mysterious NPC in Istan said. Here:
Quote:I'm trying to view the stars for some investigations I am conducting...
The gods can be seen in the heavens... to varying degrees. They've emblazoned their marks upon the firmament, and these marks are not constant.
... there are dimensions out there other than the one we currently inhabit. This ship is clearly an echo of one of those dimensions.
Well, take what you will from my ramblings.

The gods of guild wars... came from a city before the exile. Was it a mountain?
Edit: Waaaittt.... exodus, not exile
Sorry if that confuses

I do think y'all are thinking to far into this, it is likely just a skybox texture
