Please do not listen to them Anet, release it on-time and on schedule, they do not have to buy at the beginning, but can wait.

Well I was just browsing the webshop play.com and they offer Guild Wars Chapter 4 as pre-order and say it's coming out on September 1st...I would think that to be an assumption on their part however...

Exactly my sentiments. I know certain people who just absolutely love to rush through things. They don't bother with side quests and don't bother with reading dialogue (and then complains about why nobody mentioned so-and-so hero is required...). They would finish the campaign in a week or two. Get some more heroes and skills, farm a bit, then start complaining about not enough content and boredom.

I haven't even finished Nightfall yet, so I might not relate so well to the OP. But I very highly doubt that any news on Chp. 4 will change your mind if you already feel that GW is boring. You'd still feel that it's boring, you'll only feel that the news of Chp. 4 is interesting, not GW before Chp.4 gets released.

I saw this too and mentioned it to Gaile and Alex Weekes and both have stated that they have not released details of chapter 4 or a release date and won't until there is something to release

If you read Billiard's Dev Roundtable discussion (stickied at the top of Riverside), you might note that it was mentioned ANet is no longer following the "release every 6 months" format.

I suppose they feel that only applied to the trilogy that ended with Nightfall.

Want to know why chapter ain't be released soon?
Because Anet forgot to test Nightfall.
And they still haven't finished balancing it.
And they still haven't given us our daily tournaments (which I hear is delayed until April?)
And they still haven't solved the HoH problem.

Of course, but how do you slow them down without annoying them? Make all quests mandatory? No, maybe from the start of a game, but not now people are used to the current system, it wouldn't go down. So a middle ground is some kind of point system that requires a certain amount of quests to achieve a mandatory rank... Sunspear point limits. They made it too easy to farm and gave inadequate points from secondary quest rewards. There are simply no incentives to do quests anymore. The problem is forcing people, which won't work. They need a new international title series, like 'Elonian Grandmaster Adventurer' for questing, maybe with incentives to max out (PvE skills, a hero, whatever). Whether they are measured indirectly with points (sunspear system as it should have been) or directly by counting the completed quests (backwards compatibility with old chapters) doesn't matter, although the latter would be easier and cleaner. There's no reason why they couldn't use it in the storyline, other than maybe its bland name. Asking a character to achieve the rank of Sunspear Captain sounds better than asking to achieve Elonian Helper (10/250). As long as the mandatory requirement was, say, 1/4 of the total available quests of your choosing at this point in the game, and not ALL quests. Maybe the good incentives are offered at a point in the title where the player has to go back and start doing the 3/4 he missed if he wants that uberleet hero or whatever. 1/4 stick, 3/4 carrot. (edit: of course another max title is itself an incentive).

"Prove your competence, [trainee/foreigner]. Become an Elonian Helper and I might just let you into our majestic Great Hall."

Could be a nightmare without a quest log though.

Lets not toss up ideas now

The point I was making is people shouldn't rush the game just so they can be one of the first people to finish it and gloat on the forums.

I'm always amazed howmany people are saying that this or that decision will be the make or break of the future of the game. really the whole thing seems far more fluid than that and there will be rises and dips in popularity but really the game is pretty solid and Anet keeps things going pretty darn well so i figure there will always be a fan base.
That being said, I have to admit that i'm really growing curious about the new game and whatever new features that come along with it. If they're on a tight six month schedule between releases then there's less than 3 months away from release(though they may have delayed it)
Frankly it would be nice to get confirmation on the name of the new chapter and the setting(even if they don't want to give away any more than that for a while) just so that the conversations regarding CH 4 will change from the random discussions we've had so far to more concentrated imagining and excitement.
I know we can't expect to get all the details right away but even though it's pretty torturous at the time it really is more fun to get little bits at a time rather than everything all at once right before release.
Then again, maybe it makes more business sense to wait. and sadly we can't compete too well against that.

ahh its just making me itch so much right now.... just what is ANet going to amaze me with next?

What could the setting be? What professions? How will the story change? Will we indeed make some ties with the Seer who helped us defeat the Mursaat? How bout Orr? How bout a ball and chain trooper? How bout in space? How bout laser guns? How bout twisted reality? How bout helping Kormir make a whole new world, play the role of Divine warriors, start a town of worshipers for the new 6th god and the 5 originals? Spreading the word of the new god? Making people believe?

What what what what!!! I just typed the ideas that came to mind on the spot.

Sure I could, and as I said, if ANet release in March I may even skip a campaign. But it would suck to be "left behind". All my online friends and guild mates move on to the next continent, and I want to be part of it. Most people want move with the crowd; it's herd instrinct. And Anet sets the pace for the stampede, so I hope they'll slow down a bit.

Don't be so negative.

1. The team that did Nightfall isn't the team doing chapter 4.
2. Competitive games can never be perfectly balanced as people naturally seek out exploits and advantages.
3. I doubt daily tournaments is ranked highest on either Anet's or the overall playerbase's priority list.
4. They're trying to solve it. It's not a math problem that you can solve overnight.

I'm hoping for moving terrain, like ice floes or boats or airships.

And a plane that loops the loop, and I want a hula-hoop...
