Price of ectos going down soon?

I am getting some new FoW armor for my warrior and I don't wanna pay around 10k per ecto, when I used to get them 6k a piece... its a hurtful price in the long run.

I dunno how ectos went up after Factions and Nightfall were released.. doesnt make sense to me. So I need some input on whether or not ecto prices will or wont go down. If I wait, I may be able to save a lot of money.

if someone can accurately predict when prices will fluctuate, i doubt they'll tell you . ..

kind of makes sense that ecto prices would go up. with 2 additional professions per chapter, people were getting FoW for their new characters. Also people are probably hoarding them more as currency.

I've been trying to sell ecto at fair-market price (-1k from trader's selling price), but since no one is buying, I'll just hang onto them for now...

1. As my warrior is my best character, its harder to find an ecto farming build. (Yeah of course I can make another character, but I don't have lots of extra time at this point.)

2. I know that... but it seems like even with the new expansions, more of the not-so-rich and even rich people would buy armor (primeval, kurzick, luxon, etc) other than FoW just becuz its outdated? Oh well, it just seems weird how the price all of the sudden shot up.

Thought I would give it a shot at making this topic, becuz its well worth the flames if I end up saving some money.

You don't need to have only one PC. Make a canthan or elonan monk or whatever, grab the 8 skills you need and go farm UW. Then you can go make your w/mo armor once you have the ectos in hand. If you apply yourself, you can be farming in under two days.

If ectos are too hard, there's tons of other things you can farm.

The only FOW armor I have is the helmet for my warrior. I farmed enough money to buy all the ecto and shards. I bought a couple months ago when ecto was around 9-9.5k a piece. Some I got from guildies who frequented UW more often than I did and were generous enough to give them to me. The rest as I said I farmed the money necessary to buy them from the merchant.

I will post something a little more helpful than what "-_-" posted. As far as the ectos' prices are, I doubt they'll get any higher than 11-12k. IIRC, there was a post somewhere saying that this next expansion won't have 2 new professions, although I may be wrong, so take that with a pinch of salt. Ecto prices will eventually slide down to more reasonable levels with time.

has anyone ever thought the price of ectos going up might not be to do with the new proffesions.. but with the new farming nerfs,,, I know alot of people still get ecto farming UW,, but it HAS been hampered and I;d like to know what less ecto farming had done to the prices,,,,

Use it before anet "nerfs" it!

You could make an ele to farm UW with itll only take a couple of days, it will save you time in the longrun as the warrior farming build is painfully slow.

If anything the percentage of solo UW farmers is 3x higher after the nerf to the 55/SS team... a quick glance at the farming forum nets at least 10 UW solo farm builds on pretty much any profession (only ones that don't come to mind are the paragon and the sin).

You guys really need to read my posts on the economy more carefully...

I predicted that ectos would rise about a month after Factions and Nightfall were released, and they did. Simply put:

1. About a month before the new chapters come out, people start spending money on materials (to save up for the new armor skins). To accumulate that cash, they start to sell some of their ectos. Selling ectos to the trader = price goes down.

2. After the chapters are released, people are blowing their cash on the new skins. Ecto prices continue to drop.

3. About a month to six weeks after the chapters are released, people have already bought those new skins and are starting to accumulate wealth again. They then go to the next logical place - either spending that wealth on FoW for their new characters or simply purchasing ectos to store their wealth. Ecto prices continue to rise until #1 occurs again for the next chapter.

In short, ecto prices are pretty high right now, but will likely go down again starting a month before Chapter 4 is released. It will probably hit rock bottom 1-2 weeks after the new Chapter is released, which is a perfect time to buy.

I think with the release of Factions and Nightfall, ecto prices hit around 6K when they hit rock bottom. Now they are consistently hovering about 9K, and continue to rise. That should tell you the potential impact of these fluctuations.

I doubt you will see any price decrease. With the advent of new 15K endgame armors there is less incentive to farm ecto and therefore a lower supply. People are hoarding more and selling less to the trader which in turn drives the price up. You would do better to farm ecto than buy it if you are that broke right now.

If you look at the UW farming builds they all seem to depend on AV/SV. If the skill "balance" drops the duration of those spells the way it did during the test weekend I would look for the ectos price to actually go up a bit, as they will be harder to farm (until another build becomes popular).

The absolute second that happens, more people will farm it. Thus hopefully more being sold= price being balanced out.

Actually I managed to make the VwK build work during the last weekend, it was just harder. And I'd imagine with any build that you don't need to hold an item for, all you need is a 20% enchant weapon and you'll still get full AV/SV coverage.

prices of ectos will never go below 6-7k now and will most likly not reach more then 10k per.

and yes famr for ectos im sitting ona stack of 500 ectos from farming over the years whenever we get favor and now have moved on to going for 500 shards :P (230 mroe to go )

and yeah if lots of people farm ectos then the price maybe go down as more and more will become avaliable on the market
